Happy Juneteenth. ❤️💛💚
Juneteenth is more than a date. It's a reminder that freedom delayed is still worth fighting for.
Many people know June 19, 1865, as the day more than 250,000 enslaved Black people in Texas finally learned they were free—more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed. But the story really began years earlier.
On Freedom's Eve, December 31, 1862, Black families gathered in churches, homes, and prayer meetings across the country waiting for midnight. They prayed, sang, hoped, and believed that a new day was coming. When the clock struck midnight on January 1, 1863, the Emancipation Proclamation took effect.
Yet for many, freedom didn't arrive immediately.
It took Union soldiers carrying the news from town to town. It took perseverance. It took faith. It took people refusing to give up hope.
Juneteenth reminds us that progress isn't always instant, but every generation has a responsibility to keep moving freedom forward.
Today, we honor those who endured, those who fought, those who prayed, and those who dreamed of a future they might never see.
Their resilience built the opportunities we stand on today.
Happy Juneteenth. May we never forget the journey, the sacrifice, and the power of hope.
