Questions have been asked about passing parked vehicles on the repaved and newly striped roadway on Minerva Lake Rd. YES, you can pass parked vehicles over the double yellow line. This is consistent with the Learning to Drive section of the Ohio Department of Public Safety:

Solid Double Yellow Lines on Two-lane, Two-Way Roadway
Passing is prohibited from both directions when there is a solid double-yellow line in the center of the road. Crossing the centerline is permitted only to turn left into driveways or pass a slow-moving vehicle (e.g., bicycle or vehicle displaying a slow-moving vehicle sign) when safe to do so.

This includes legally parked vehicles. Drivers must yield to oncoming traffic when passing any vehicle.

⭐️Franklin County remains at a Level 1 Snow Emergency 🚨🚓🚒The Level 1 Snow Emergency will remain in place for Franklin County for Wednesday, January 28, 2026, as crews continue their hard work to clean up from this weekend’s winter storm.

Blendon Township road crews are continuing to plow and salt throughout the Village. Please keep vehicles off the roadways ❄️

Two things!! 🚓First, thank you for clearing vehicles from the road this weekend for the snow plows! They will be back around tomorrow with salt 🤞🏼 Second , the retention ponds and the lakes are not for recreational use and serve several purposes for water flow and control. Ice skating and hockey are strictly prohibited unless written permission is given after the Fire Chief has deemed the ice safe for use. As much as we love to see our residents exploring and having adventures around the Village, the water is not safe. Please use caution and contact the police department if you have any questions. 🚫❄️⛸️🏒🚫

❄️ Winter Weather Update ❄️
With the current rate of falling snow, we anticipate a snow emergency. To help our hardworking Blendon Twp crews keep roads clear and safe, we ask that all vehicles be moved off the roadway.

Our focus is cooperation, not enforcement. We truly hope to avoid issuing tickets or towing vehicles, but those steps may be necessary if cars remain on the street.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office has declared a LEVEL 1 Snow Emergency for Franklin County as of 4a.m. on Tuesday, December 2, 2025.

A Level 1 Snow Emergency means: Roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow. Roads may also be icy. Motorists are urged to drive very cautiously.

Officer Josh DeJesus, one of the newest members of our agency, has quickly distinguished himself through exceptional professionalism and dedication to service. Despite being early in his tenure, he has demonstrated strong policing skills, sound judgment, and a commitment to community policing. His outstanding performance and positive impact on both co workers and the community, earned him a nomination for the Star Award. A recognition well deserved for an officer who is already setting a high standard. Thank you to the Franklin County Sheriffs Office for hosting a wonderful dinner and allowing us to showcase extraordinary officers throughout Central Ohio.
