Columbus Metropolitan Library Volunteers

Columbus Metropolitan Library Volunteers Want to make a difference in a young student's life? Volunteer for our Homework Help Centers! Give a gift of your time to improve a student's education.

Our purpose is to inspire reading, share resources and connect people. The mission of the volunteer program is to support library staff and enhance the tradition of excellence and outstanding customer service by providing the “extra hands” needed to sustain and expand the library’s operation. While the library is open on weekends, volunteer work is very limited on Fridays and Saturdays.

Reading Buddies is gearing up to restart in-person sessions on March 7. If you don't already have an assignment and you're interested in joining us, please let us know.

01/10/2022

With an abundance of caution, we are suspending our in-person Reading Buddies program until it is safe to meet with children in a one-on-one setting. If this program interests you, please wait until we reopen this opportunity to apply to help.

We're looking forward to a time when we can all safely help out.

From VolunteerMatch:

As we look for ways to uplift our spirits going into the school year in the classroom and in our communities, doing something kind for someone makes us feel good and brings joy to others. In fact, research from Born This Way Foundation of young people ages 13 to 24 in the U.S. found that most young people say experiencing more kindness would improve their mental wellness—be it from others (73%), themselves (74%), or observed in the world around them (71%). That’s why we’re excited about partnering with Born This Way Foundation’s campaign. Be a part of building kinder, more connected communities by practicing an act of kindness each day from September 1st to September 21st. You can also invite your friends, coworkers, classmates, or neighbors to join you. Take the pledge now!

🌏 💓 Sign up for Born This Way Foundation's and pledge to do one intentional act of kindness for yourself + others every day for 21 days this September at bornthisway.foundation/bekind21
