It was a special night for the Hamilton Township boys soccer team as they defeated Logan Elm 7-1 on Senior Night.

This win marked a major milestone for Coach Sutherland who picked up his 100th career victory as head coach.

Already the all-time leader in coaching wins in HT boys soccer history, Coach Sutherland has built a career that includes multiple league championships, a district runner-up finish, a District Coach of the Year award, numerous All-Conference and All-District players, and multiple All-State selections.

Those accomplishments are certainly worth celebrating, but the most meaningful part of a milestone like this is everything behind the number. The players who have come through the program, the unbelievable families who have supported them, the coaches who have helped along the way, and the teams that have continued to build on what came before them have all played a major role in this success.

Tonight’s milestone also came on a night dedicated to 14 incredible seniors. They got to celebrate their Senior Night with a big team win with one of the biggest crowds ever at a boys soccer match.

Congratulations to Coach Sutherland on 100 career victories and his impact on Hamilton Township soccer.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — October 5, 2026 — Hamilton Local School District today announced a series of major educational and community support initiatives made possible through key funding from Google. These programs expand career technical pathways, foster early elementary STEM engagement, and provide support for district families during the Holiday season.

Expanding Skilled Trades Pathways with Google
Through a $15,000 grant from Google, Hamilton Schools is upgrading its pre-apprenticeships by upgrading existing and purchasing industry-grade, in-house welding equipment. This funding enables 125 enrolled high school students to gain hands-on proficiency directly on campus, eliminating significant transportation barriers that previously prevented students from traveling off-site to partner facilities.
The enhanced curriculum prepares students for high-demand, living-wage careers while helping them earn their OSHA-10 certification. By building skilled trade competencies internally, the district directly aligns with growing regional opportunities in digital infrastructure, including local data center construction and operations.

Early Innovation: The Ready Rangers Afterschool STEM Program
Through a $60,000 grant from Google, Hamilton Schools is able to build an early foundation in science and technology, Hamilton Local Elementary School is continuing its Ready Rangers Afterschool STEM Program, powered by the PAST Foundation.
Offered free of charge to students in grades K–3, Ready Rangers serves an estimated 150 to 200 students annually across six three-week sessions running from October through April. Meeting three days a week, young learners engage in interactive science demonstrations and digital tools. Working alongside peers, high school interns, and STEM instructors, students develop essential skills in collaboration, communication, and social-emotional growth, sparking an early curiosity in technology-based careers.

Supporting District Families
A $30,000 sponsorship from Google funded Thanksgiving Meal Kits for hundreds of students of district families in the fall of 2025, supplementing the district’s long-standing Holiday Help initiative. This collaboration expanded
support for local households and helped ensure families had access to nutritious meals during the holiday season.

Today, we recognize and thank our incredible custodial teams across the Hamilton Local School District who take so much pride in caring for our buildings every single day.

Our buildings are consistently complimented by community members and visitors, and it's not uncommon for guests to assume our facilities are brand new. That speaks volumes about the care, attention to detail and hard work our custodians put into keeping our schools clean, welcoming, and ready for students and staff each day.

To our custodians, thank you for the pride you take in your work and for helping make Hamilton Local Schools a place our entire community can be proud of. Your work often happens behind the scenes, but its impact is seen and appreciated by everyone who walks through our doors!

Yesterday, our Hamilton Township High School sophomores and juniors took part in a hands-on Safe Teen Driving Event at Fortress Obetz in partnership with Franklin County Safe Communities.

Students had the opportunity to learn from regional safety leaders and emergency personnel through interactive demonstrations and real-world safety experiences. Activities included driving simulators, impaired vision activities, a State Patrol rollover simulator, motorcycle safety demonstrations, a live auto extrication demonstration, crash safety and biomechanics education, a MedFlight emergency response presentation, and Stop the Bleed training.

These experiences gave our students a firsthand look at the risks young drivers face, the importance of making responsible decisions behind the wheel, and the critical role first responders play when accidents happen.

We appreciate Franklin County Safe Communities and all of the participating agencies and organizations for investing their time and expertise in our students. With Homecoming here, these lessons are especially important as our Rangers make plans to celebrate safely.

It’s Volley for the Cure day, and we’ve had a great day of Ranger spirit leading up to tonight’s game!

We started the morning at the Intermediate School, where our PTO teamed up with the Hamilton Township Fire Department for a fun duck race fundraiser for our students. It was a great way to bring our school and community together.

From there, our volleyball team headed to the Elementary School to greet students as they arrived and get them excited for tonight’s game.

We wrapped up the school day at the High School, where Intermediate and Middle School students joined them for the Volley for the Cure pep rally to get everyone ready to cheer on the Rangers!

Tonight, our volleyball team takes on Groveport Madison as we come together for Volley for the Cure and our district-wide Pink Out.

We hope to see everyone at the game tonight for a great night of volleyball and an even better cause. Let’s fill the gym and show our Ranger support!

The Ranger Band is back on the competition field this Saturday!

The Hamilton Township Marching Band will compete in the 2026 GCHS Marching Band Invitational at Leasure Field in Grove City, joining marching bands from across Ohio for an evening of music, performance, and OMEA ratings.

One of our favorite things about Start With Hello Week is seeing Rangers from all five buildings connect with one another.

Today, our High School Power Rangers welcomed Middle School students to school before the Middle School Leadership Group traveled with them to Hamilton Intermediate. From there, the Intermediate Leadership Group continued the tradition, traveling to Hamilton Elementary and eventually making their way to Preschool to visit our youngest Rangers.

Five buildings, one Ranger family, and a lot of hellos along the way!

Volley for the Cure is next Wednesday! Get those orders in ASAP.

As a reminder, T-shirt pickup is this Sunday, September 27th from 12:00-4:00pm in the High School Cafeteria.

Our annual Rangers for the Cure events are coming up, with several opportunities for our school community to support the district’s Komen Fund.

Our Volley for the Cure match will take place on Wednesday, September 30th, when the Rangers take on Groveport Madison. That Wednesday will also be a districtwide Pink Out, so students, staff, families and community members are encouraged to wear pink.

A special congratulations to three very deserving members of the Hamilton Local Schools family who were recognized by the Ohio School Boards Association at a banquet this week.

Chrysis “Chrys” Thompson received an Exemplary School Employee Award for more than 25 years of dedicated service to Hamilton Local Schools. Chrys has served in several secretarial roles throughout her career, spending the majority of her time as assistant to the superintendent. She has truly worn every hat and has become an incredible source of knowledge about our district, its history, people, processes, and day-to-day operations. Her organization, communication, dedication, and willingness to go above and beyond have made her an invaluable part of Hamilton Local Schools.

Melissa Allmandinger and Beth Blair were honored with a Friend of Public Education Award for their tremendous work supporting Hamilton Elementary School. After COVID brought an end to the previous PTO, Melissa and Beth stepped up to rebuild the organization from the ground up. Today, they volunteer multiple days each week and help make countless student and staff activities possible, from book fairs and family events to student incentives, indoor recess materials, staff appreciation and so much more. Their positivity and willingness to help have made a lasting impact on the HES community.

We are incredibly proud to see Chrys, Melissa, and Beth receive this recognition. Their time, effort, knowledge, and commitment to Hamilton Local Schools make a difference every day.

Congratulations and thank you for all you do for our Rangers!

We were so honored to recognize the members of our community who have served our country, along with the local first responders who serve our community every day, during Friday night’s 15th Annual Military and First Responder Recognition Ceremony.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the recognition possible, especially the Hamilton Township Fire Department, Obetz Police Department and Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, who were in attendance and working Friday night’s game.

On the field, the Ranger football team battled until the final moments, coming up just short against Chillicothe, 14-13.
