Art Possible Ohio Our work takes us into the classroom, galleries and public arena, where we share information and resources with educators, artists and administrators.

Art Possible Ohio, (formerly VSA Ohio) is a nonprofit that connects inspired artists with their passion, service providers with resources, and all citizens with creative opportunities. From photography to music, painting, drawing, dance and movement, Art Possible Ohio works to promote the enrichment of art for all abilities across all artistic mediums. We work to change perceptions about ability a

nd disability by helping connect people to accessible, creative opportunities that inspire all of us. Art Possible is a community that connects inspired artists with their passion, service providers with resources, and all citizens with creative opportunities. By bridging arts and disability, our programs and services constantly evolve to provide inclusive environments and accessible opportunities for people with disabilities to celebrate life through the arts. Founded in 1986, we work hard to advocate for accessibility and equality, advance careers in the creative sector, build community, and improve the academic achievement of Ohio’s students through arts integration.

ReelAbilities Film Festival Columbus Presents: My Brain: After The Rupture

Program:
On a bright January morning in 2020, writer, broadcaster, and musician Clemency Burton-Hill suffered a catastrophic brain hemorrhage. After emerging from a 17-day coma, she was unable to speak or walk and faced the daunting task of rebuilding her life from the ground up. Drawing on raw and intimate recordings captured during the earliest stages of her recovery, this documentary traces Clemmie’s determined effort to reclaim her identity. As she works to return to broadcasting, finish the book she began before her injury, and once again play the violin with her son, the film becomes a moving reflection on resilience, creativity, and the healing power of the arts.

Artist Statement: "As an assemblage artist, I view myself as a storyteller. I use repurposed jewelry to make chains of beads and baubles attached to an antique base. Some examples of bases I use are a 1920s flour sifter, a viewmaster reel, old 8tracks or LPs, and an old tie tack. I look for bases that my chains can accentuate while keeping the integrity of the object. I also love to add a little "Where's Wlado" search-and-find quirk to each piece I create where the name of the piece is a hint to the quirk. I really see myself as a storyteller and assemblage gives me the opportunity to retell its tale."

Accessibility Highlight: Art-Reach ACCESS Passes!

Note: This pass is made for Pennsylvania and Delaware residents, however non-residents of those states are able to get one as well for the same price to visit all the participating locations!

What: Art-Reach ACCESS is a pass for people with disabilities to attend art and cultural events for only $2. ACCESS provides $2 admission to over 100 cultural sites throughout Greater Philadelphia and Delaware for individuals receiving public assistance for food or medical benefits.

How: By simply showing your ACCESS Card paired with a valid photo ID when purchasing admission or tickets, ACCESS Cardholders pay the deeply discounted rate of $2 per person (for the Cardholder and up to three additional people).

Pennsylvania and Delaware residents with a qualifying state-issued ACCESS or EBT card are automatically eligible for $2 admission to participating ACCESS sites in their state.

Don’t have a state-issued ACCESS Card? Individuals who identify as having a disability, including those who live out-of-state, can purchase an Art-Reach ACCESS Card to visit all participating ACCESS sites with $2 admission.

Accessibility Feature: Columbus Museum of Art Highlights Tour (ASL) Columbus Museum of Art

Friday, September 11 from 1:00–1:30 PM

Join a knowledgeable docent and ASL interpreter for a 30-minute guided tour exploring highlights from CMA's collection and special exhibitions. Through close looking and conversation, these collaborative, inquiry-based tours offer new perspectives on works of art.

Every second Friday of the month, the Highlights Tour includes a variety of disability access strategies.
