Columbus Public Health continues to monitor the COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak and is prepared to protect health and prevent the spread of infectious disease in Columbus and Worthington. There are still no confirmed cases in Ohio and no people under investigation locally. CPH is coordinating with Ohio Department of Health to monitor travelers returning from China. When a traveler returns, we work with them and monitor for symptoms for 14 days. So far, we have monitored 9 local travelers returning from China and have had no cases or people under investigation. While CDC considers 2019-nCoV a serious situation and is taking preparedness measures, the immediate health risk in the U.S. from the new coronavirus (2019-nCoV) is thought to be low at this time, based on what we know. It’s still good to know the symptoms of 2019-nCoV, especially if you’ve recently returned from China. These include:
• Fever
• Cough
• Shortness of breath

Recently, we provided 20 water-tank trucks to supply potable water to critical facilities in the affected municipalities.
