Junior League of Columbus

Junior League of Columbus Over the years, the Junior League of Columbus, GA has been instrumental in many worthwhile projects that make our community a better place.

The Junior League of Columbus (JLC) is an organization of women whose mission is to advance women’s leadership for meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration, and training. Some of those projects include: opening the first pediatric wing at the old City Hospital, equipping children's playrooms at the Medical Center, helping the Historic Columbus Committee get started, work

ing to save the Springer Opera House and many other locally significant historic structures from the wrecking ball, providing significant funding to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at the Medical Center, equipping the children's Transformations Gallery at the Columbus Museum, and helping establish the local Ronald McDonald House. We will continue this legacy of service and commitment to our community as we go forward into the future.

💙 Volunteering Is Good for the Community — and Good for You, Too!

Did you know that volunteering can improve your health and well-being? According to the Mayo Clinic Health System, volunteering offers benefits that go far beyond giving back.

✨ 3 Health Benefits of Volunteering:
❤️ Helps reduce stress and boost your mood
❤️ Encourages social connection and combats loneliness
❤️ May support heart health and overall wellness

At the Junior League of Columbus, our members experience these benefits while making a meaningful impact throughout our community. Whether we’re supporting families through the Diaper Bank, empowering children through community programs, or serving alongside our partners, every volunteer opportunity creates positive change—for others and for ourselves.

As we celebrate our 90th year of service, we’re proud to continue building stronger communities and stronger women through volunteerism.

Today we commemorate Juneteenth, marking the end of slavery in the United States when news of emancipation reached Galveston, Texas, in 1865.

The Junior League honors the resilience, contributions, and achievements of Black communities. We remain committed to promoting equity, inclusion, and lasting positive change in every corner of our work.

The Junior League of Columbus Board of Directors gathered for our annual board retreat to prepare for the 2026–2027 League year.

Together, we spent time reflecting, planning, and aligning around the work ahead — including member engagement, financial transparency, community impact, and how we can continue to strengthen our League for the future.

This year, our focus is on creating clear expectations, supporting our members where they are, increasing our visibility in the community, and continuing the meaningful service that has defined the Junior League of Columbus for generations.

We are grateful for the women who are stepping into leadership and giving their time, energy, and talents to help move our mission forward. Here’s to a year of purpose, collaboration, and doing a world of good. ❤️

✨ Strong Women. Strong Communities. Stronger Together. ✨

“We need women who are so strong they can be gentle, so educated they can be humble, so fierce they can be compassionate, so passionate they can be rational, and so disciplined they can be free.” — Kavita Ramdas

This quote beautifully reflects the heart of the Junior League of Columbus. For 90 years, our members have led with strength, served with compassion, and empowered one another to create lasting change in our community.

As we celebrate our monumental 90th year, we honor the women who have come before us and welcome those who are ready to help shape our future. Through leadership development, volunteer service, and meaningful community impact, League women continue to prove that strength and kindness go hand in hand.

The Junior League of Columbus extends our sincere appreciation to all of the Junior League members from across Georgia who traveled to Columbus for this year’s Spring/Summer Conference. We were honored to host such an engaged group of leaders dedicated to strengthening our communities through advocacy, education, and service.

Thank you to Kimberly Jordan of Crazy Daisy, Inc. for the beautiful flowers, and Jill Jones of Dreams and Buttercream for the delicious cupcakes.

A special thank you to our outstanding guest speakers, Dr. Asante Hilts, Olivia Amos, Bobbi Starr, Senator Randy Robertson, Representative Carolyn Hugley, Representative Carmen Rice, and Representative Teddy Reese, for sharing their expertise and participating in an engaging fireside chat with our members.

A huge thank you to the Miss Georgia contestants for their generous diaper donations!

Because of their support, families in our community will benefit through the Junior League of Columbus Diaper Bank. We are so grateful for the heart they showed in giving back while in Columbus.

Special thanks as well to our League members — Syenovia Daniels, Brandy Michelle, Jessica Bankston, Tinishia Davidson-Fitzpatrick and Maegan Huff — who volunteered their time to help collect, count, and move donations, especially in this heat today!

And a big shoutout to the Columbus Lions Head Coach and players for lending their strength and helping unload a U-Haul full of diapers! 💪🏼

It truly takes a community, and we are thankful for everyone who helped make this effort possible.

Today was an honor and privilege to celebrate Junior League of Columbus Past President Bobsie Swift (1981–1982) at the ribbon cutting for the new Clifford & Bobsie Swift History Trail and to meet fellow Past President Mimi Childs (1985–1986).

The new history trail is a beautiful addition to the Chattahoochee Promenade, preserving and sharing the stories, people, and places that have helped shape our community. As we gathered to celebrate this important milestone, we were reminded of the lasting impact of preservation, service, and visionary leadership.

Moments like these are a testament to the strong foundation laid by the women who came before us. We honor their contributions, celebrate their legacy, and continue building upon their work to create a stronger future for Columbus. Clifford and Bobsie Swift History Trail
