Franklin County Veterans Service Commission

Franklin County Veterans Service Commission A county agency dedicated to serving the Veterans of Franklin County, their dependents and surviving spouses.

We provide temporary financial support and VA benefits assistance. We are staffed and led by Veterans and their families. The Veterans Service Commission is a county agency dedicated to helping veterans, active duty members of the Armed Forces of the United States, and their dependents. There are several distinct services our agency provides:

•Short term emergency financial assistance to eligible

veterans with a discharge under honorable conditions or a recognized service-connected disability, active-duty members of the Armed Forces of the United States, Reserve and National Guard members who are called to active duty by a Presidential Order (such as Desert Storm Operation Enduring Freedom), and their dependents.

•Advice and assistance when applying for claims, benefits or entitlements from federal, state, or local agencies. Our Veterans Benefits Specialist act as the veteran's liaison to the Department of Veterans Affairs.

•Provide assistance up to $1,000.00 to help defray the necessary funeral expenses for the burial of a veteran and the cost of mounting the government marker.

•Employment assistance in coordination with a Veterans Employment Representative from the Department of Job and Family Services. The Veterans Service Commission is legislated by the State of Ohio and governed by the Ohio Revised Code, Title 59, and is not funded by or associated with the Department of Veterans Affairs.

The Franklin County Municipal Court's Military and Veterans Services (MAVS) graduation was an inspiring experience. Hearing the participants personal journeys and accomplishments through the program was truly impactful. MAVS is dedicated to honoring the service of veterans and military members by providing guidance and support as they work to rebuild their lives while addressing addiction and mental health challenges that led to their involvement in the criminal justice system.

Calling all Ohioans. It is time to show up, test yourself against Murph's bar, and give to those who've given the ultimate sacrifice.

On May 22 a public Murph Challenge event is happening at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium at The Ohio State University in Columbus. Doors open at 7:30am and the workout starts at 9:00am. Come do it with us.

If participating at our Anduril-sponsored event, register at the link below and select "Ohio State University" as your host.

But if you can't participate in person, do it wherever you are.

The Murph doesn't require a stadium. It requires a mile, something to do pull-ups on, and a reason to show up. For every person who competes, Anduril will donate $5, split across a group of military nonprofits including, the Michael P. Murphy Foundation, to support the people and families who have given the most.
