I hope to see you at the BMV License Clinic tomorrow. This is a one stop shop where people can talk to judges, clerk staff, the BMV and even get insurance. Some people can walk out with a new license. Many thanks to the Clerk's Office and all partners who helped put this together.

Franklin County Municipal Courthouse to Close September 23–25 for Emergency Building Maintenance

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Franklin County Municipal Courthouse will be closed to the public on Wednesday, September 23, Thursday, September 24, and Friday, September 25, 2026, due to emergency building maintenance.

The Court is expected to resume normal operations on Monday, September 28, 2026.

During the closure, the Court will continue to hold in-custody arraignment hearings, including its regularly scheduled Saturday, September 26 arraignments. Due to the maintenance work, the public will not be admitted into the courtroom gallery for these hearings.

Probation staff will work remotely and remain available to supervisees and the public by phone and email. The Self-Help Center will be closed during this period.

All other cases scheduled for September 23 through 25 will be continued to a later date. Parties will receive written notice of their new court date by mail. The Court's docket, available at https://www.fcmcclerk.com/case/search, will also be updated with specific continuance dates as they are scheduled.

The Clerk’s Office will have bond and bail payment services available to the public during this time. Criminal and Traffic phone lines will remain open. E-filing portals will continue to remain open.

The Court appreciates the public's patience as it addresses this necessary safety maintenance. Questions regarding this closure may be directed to PIO Jodi Andes at [email protected] or if related to case information to Tate Wooding at [email protected].

Today the Franklin County Municipal Court released a public statement addressing the long standing concerns that affect the Court. This is an unprecedented step for the Court, but we need to raise the public awareness regarding the current conditions that our employees and the public encounter every day. This is the largest municipal court in the state and the City's most visited building. More than 500,000 people passed through our doors last year. We believe we need a better solution for the Court than what was presented.

The Franklin County Municipal Court is issuing this public statement regarding the City’s cancellation of the new courthouse construction. The statement addresses the longstanding deferred maintenance, deteriorating building systems, and ongoing safety and security issues that...

Please be aware of a new scam attempting to get people to pay court fines quickly. The notices are sent via text and are fake.

Attached is an image of the scam, but we are learning that different images may be used at times. Some allege the violation is a parking violation. Others claim it is for unpaid tolls. Some have a fake seal where “The Great Seal of the State of Ohio” is misspelled. The Franklin County Municipal Court and Clerk does not send violation notices via text.

Please do not share any personal information in response to the text.

Thank you.
