Welcome everyone. I created this group to streamline Mink Recovery across the globe, as Mink escapes from commercial Farms has been on the rise as of late, or moreover brought to my attention on a regular basis. The member's I will add, I do not want to personally give these runaway Minks homes, for many reasons
First off, this is an incredibly difficult animal to manage with the best of resources, and are not for everyone.Nor do I want them to be, a handful of select few,The individuals I have chosen, either already have Minks, have experience in animal rescue, or have a vast network of transportation capabilities at their disposal. This is, and will never ever be'Mink' buy and sell. To this day, I have never sold, or asked for money, when re-homing a Mink. That's not something I'm interested in doing. This creature is beyond exploited, and enough , is enough. With the help of others, we will create a fully covered map, in every city,, and every country, to bring these animals home. The goal, is a simple one. Not unlike the hand offs of global ferret rescue.
We will do this smart, and by the numbers, as I type I am securing, portable versions of ADV test strips, that I will ship world wide if I have to in addition, have them in the hands of key contacts to 'instantly' assess Ranch Minks probability of Plasmacytosis (ADV).In most cases( up to now) out of all the minks I have rescued and placed, only one or two have tested positive for Aleutians disease. Most Mink Farm Ranch owners, test regularly, and have 'millions ' of dollars at stake, with an infected herd. And, killing off all the stock, once rampant, is usually not enough, as the disease can, and does last for years, with 'permanent further destruction, that cannot be recovered from, as Gods Karma prevails in the end.
Having said that, most ranchers see to it that the keep their money 'clean', however, Im not big on transporting Minks that are in fact infected' as it create problems, as it is contagious, however, no worries, will will have this clear out of the gate.I decided this is a optimum time to create this group, as it will take a while to solidify a solid evacuation plan to have a smooth transportation chain. Once firmly formatted, we will be able to move animals, by air and ground transportation, anywhere around the globe.
