Voter Bill of Rights 2014

Voter Bill of Rights 2014 Join The Movement To Place The Ohio Voter Bill of Rights On The November 2014 Ballot. How we got here? Addresses the “RIGHT CHURCH, WRONG PEW” Voting.

Ohio Voter Bill of Rights is a statewide, non traditional grassroots and non partisan civil rights movement from the bottom up led by the Ohio Legislative Black Caucus Pres. Alicia Reece and members, clergy, Ohio NAACP President, National Action Network Chapters, Prince Hall Masons, students, and civil rights leaders from across the state. Our campaign seeks to preserve and protect the rights of

all voters within Ohio by amending Ohio’s Constitution. This amendment will guarantee specific voting rights that cannot be eliminated or watered down by statehouse politicians, as well as create permanent voting laws. The Ohio Legislature continues to introduce a series of harmful bills that block voter access and participation. Lawmakers have rushed to vote on the controversial bills without thoughtful deliberation or input from the public or voter advocates. The Voter Bill of Rights seeks to:
Make Voting a Fundamental Right in the Ohio Constitution. Have a fundamental right to cast a ballot and have your vote counted. It makes voter registration for all eligible citizens easy and accessible, including online. It gives voters as many as 15 options for identifying themselves. STOPS LEGALIZED VOTER DISENFRANCHISEMENT!!

Today is the 51st Anniversary of the March on Washington and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech. As we reflect on the triumphs and challenges of those who came before us, we cannot forget that there is still much work to be done to promote equality, race relations, voting rights and jobs. We must also fight for openness and fairness in our political system to ensure that everyone has a chance at the American Dream. That is why we have called for a new civil rights movement, and we will not rest until our right to vote is enshrined in our constitution.

“Let’s end this conversation,” Reece said. “Let’s make sure that the next generation doesn’t have to keep fighting on this issue.”

One state lawmaker is sick of the decade-long fight over ballot access in the Buckeye State. She wants to put the issue to rest -- by mobilizing regular folks.
