Today was the 46th Annual Governor's Holocaust Commemoration at the Statehouse. We remembered the six million and honored survivors and their families. Remarks by Dr. Henry Fenichel, who survived with his mother. We also celebrated Elisa Case, the 2026 Genocide Educator of the year. Thank you to all the schools and students who attended. On Saturday, most of the Holocaust & Genocide Studies students were able to visit the Cincinnati Museum Center where they experienced the special exhibit, "Auschwitz: Not Long Ago, Not Far Away." Students toured the three-hour exhibit, which consists of over 500 artifacts, with original maps, photographs, video footage, and survivor testimony. The exhibit has been touring in the United States for several years and is in its last stop before returning to Poland. The Cincinnati Museum Center, which is the original train terminal, was the gateway for the final destination of many Holocaust survivors. The trip was timed to help conclude a five-month multi-unit study of the Holocaust.

We want to specially thank the Ohio Holocaust and Genocide Memorial and Education Commission, for providing the grant to cover all transportation and museum entrance expenses. We are fortunate for this kind of support as Ohio helps to lead the way in Holocaust and genocide education.
