♻️ City of Columbus Receives $36,000 Recycling Grant ♻️

The City of Columbus was recently awarded a $36,000 H-E-B Recycling for Texans Grant through H-E-B and Keep Texas Beautiful. The grant will provide funding for a new paper shredder, scale, label printer and signage at the Columbus Recycling Center.

While recycling may not normally be something you see posted on the Columbus Police Department page, one part of this grant has a direct connection to public safety: helping protect our residents from identity theft and fraud.

The new paper shredder will allow residents to safely dispose of documents containing personal information such as Social Security numbers, dates of birth, account numbers, passwords, and other sensitive information. Properly destroying these documents is a simple way to help keep your personal information from falling into the wrong hands.

Students across Columbus are heading back to school! Please slow down, stay alert, and allow a little extra time during morning drop-off and afternoon pickup.

🚸 Obey school-zone speed limits.
📵 Put the phone down.
🚌 Watch for school buses and children walking or biking.

⚠️ FANNIN ST. / HWY 71 SOUTH REMINDER:
When a school bus has its red lights flashing and stop sign extended, traffic in BOTH directions must stop. The center turn lane does not make it a divided highway.

Our officers will be out helping keep traffic moving and our students safe.

🎓 Congratulations to Officer Israel Salinas!

Today, Officer Salinas earned his Master of Science in Criminal Justice, marking an outstanding academic achievement.

While balancing the demands of graduate school with serving as a full-time police officer, Officer Salinas distinguished himself through his academic excellence, earning membership in two honor societies while maintaining a 4.0 GPA throughout his graduate studies. His dedication, discipline, and commitment to lifelong learning are truly commendable.

Please join us in congratulating Officer Salinas on this well-deserved accomplishment. We are proud of his achievement and wish him continued success in his career.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by the Columbus Police Department booth at the Boys & Girls Club Taste of Columbus tonight!

We had a great time serving our mini pulled pork tacos and visiting with everyone who came by our booth.

We didn’t bring home a trophy this year, but there’s always next year! 😉 Congratulations to all of the winners and participants you all did an amazing job!

Thank you to everyone who came out to support such a great cause. We always enjoy being part of an event that brings our community together, and we can’t wait to do it again next year! 🚔🌮🐷💙

🇺🇸 Happy 250th Birthday, America! 🇺🇸

As we celebrate our nation's Independence Day, the Columbus Police Department would like to remind everyone that fireworks are not permitted within the Columbus city limits pursuant to City Ordinance Article 5.05.

This ordinance helps reduce the risk of fires, injuries, property damage, and disturbances to our neighbors and pets.

If you're planning to celebrate with fireworks, please do so in an area where they are legally permitted.

We appreciate everyone's cooperation in helping keep our community safe while we celebrate America's 250th birthday.
