Wet conditions have led to improvement in drought conditions across north and central Georgia over the last week. While areas of D3-D4 drought continue to shrink across our area, rainfall totals through the last several months remains well below normal and below surface soils remain dry.

🚨Summer School Speed Enforcement 🚨

Summer school begins June 2, and school zone speed enforcement will be active at several Muscogee County schools through June 25, 2026.

Motorists should obey the reduced speed limit when school zone lights are flashing and follow the regular posted speed limit during school hours when lights are not flashing. Drivers traveling more than 10 MPH over the posted speed limit will receive a citation.

Summer school classes will operate Monday through Thursday only.

Yesterday, NOAA released it's 2026 Atlantic Basin Hurricane Season Outlook.
There is a 55% chance of a below-average number of named storms in the tropical Atlantic for 2026, largely due to the influence of El Nino conditions in the Pacific.
Remember... seasonal outlooks do not predict landfall or tropical cyclone community impacts (flooding, storm surge, wind, tornado risk).
It only takes ONE local storm for it to be a bad season.
