Capital Collegiate Preparatory Academy
May Newsletter 2026
A Message from Coach Dayatra, M.Ed.
Dear Capital Collegiate Preparatory Academy Leadership, Families, Staff, School Board, and Community,
As we enter the beautiful month of May, I want to take a moment to reflect with gratitude, pride, and hope.
Serving this school community as Principal has been both an honor and a purpose-filled journey. From the moment I arrived, my mission was clear: to help build a stronger, more stable, and more student-centered school where scholars could thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
I am proud to say that Capital is stronger today than when I first entered its doors—not because of one person, but because of what we built together.
Throughout this journey, we established systems, structures, and expectations designed for lasting success. We strengthened daily operations, focused on academic growth, increased accountability, and intentionally cultivated a culture of excellence for both students and staff.
Because of that work, I firmly believe Capital will continue to rise, improve, and reach even greater heights.
One of the accomplishments I cherish most is the expansion of community partnerships that directly benefited our scholars and families. Through relationships with organizations such as Consider the Poor, Kitchen of Life, Classic For Columbus, Urban Aging Residents Coalition, 100 Black Women of Columbus, Metropolitan Library, CareSource, National Center for Urban Solutions, and Ecofit H2O, we connected families to critical resources, mentorship, enrichment, and support beyond the classroom walls.
I have always believed schools thrive when surrounded by a community of Love, Learning, and Laughter, and Capital now stands stronger because of it.
Another accomplishment close to my heart is the beautification of our beloved building. Great schools should inspire children the moment they walk through the doors. Together, we transformed our campus into an environment that reflects pride, dignity, safety, and excellence.
Most importantly, the greatest evidence of progress is found in our students. Our scholars are growing academically, demonstrating stronger behavior, and building confidence in their own greatness.
They are learning that discipline, effort, and perseverance create opportunity.
Watching their growth has been one of the greatest joys of my service.
To the staff: thank you for your resilience, dedication, and tireless service to children.
To the families: thank you for trusting us with your greatest gifts.
To the scholars: thank you for inspiring me daily. Continue to dream big, work hard, and never doubt your greatness.
Although I will be stepping away from this position, I do so with peace, knowing the foundation has been strengthened, the direction is clear, and the future remains bright.
Capital’s best days are still ahead.
I will always carry love and pride for this school community and remain committed to supporting a smooth and successful transition.
My final day of serving as Principal of Capital Collegiate will be June 30, 2026.
With sincere gratitude,
Refuse to Lose!!
