Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities The Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities is committed to improving the quality of life for Ohioans with developmental disabilities.

The Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD) is committed to improving the quality of life for Ohioans with developmental disabilities and their families. DODD oversees a statewide system of supports and services for people with developmental disabilities and their families. DODD does this by developing services that ensure a person's health and safety, encouraging participation in the

community, increasing opportunities for meaningful employment, and providing residential services and support from early childhood through adulthood. DODD partners with many organizations and agencies to develop and lead these services, which are implemented by Ohio’s 88 county boards of developmental disabilities. The county boards also partner with thousands of independent service providers to deliver the broad range of services.

Earlier this month, Knox County residents celebrated the grand opening and dedication of The Woodlands, a 165-acre forest featuring scenic trails and a new pavilion on Vernonview Drive.

The event was a fun-filled day with guided hikes, tree plantings, and refreshments as the space officially opened to the public.

The property, adjacent to the Mount Vernon Developmental Center, was proudly transferred by DODD to the Knox County Park District to ensure the land would be preserved, maintained, and enjoyed by the community for generations to come.
