Golden Buckeye Program

Golden Buckeye Program The Golden Buckeye program has been helping older Ohioans and other eligible adults make community connections for more than four decades.

More than two million Ohioans are eligible for the Golden Buckeye card, honored at thousands of businesses statewide. Golden Buckeye cardholders have saved an estimated $2 billion since 1976. All Ohioans age 60 or older, as well as adults age 18-59 who have disabilities as defined by Social Security, are eligible for a free Golden Buckeye card. Facebook Post and Comment Policy

Holiday Shopping Tip of the Day: Keep Your Business Off the Curb!

Putting boxes from expensive items—like TVs, computers, or appliances—out for trash or recycling can attract unwanted attention. To protect your home:

Break down boxes and conceal them in trash bags
Place packaging under other items in the recycling bin
Consider taking boxes directly to a recycling center

A little extra effort can help keep your home and belongings safe!

Holiday Shopping Tip of the Day: Curb Your Enthusiasm Online!

Resist the urge to share details or photos of expensive gifts—like TVs, computers, or jewelry—on social media. While you may trust your friends, you can’t always control who sees your posts. Oversharing could unintentionally invite theft.

Keep your celebrations private and your valuables safe!

Holiday Shopping Tip of the Day: Give returns and exchanges some time!

Don’t rush out after the holidays to return your unwanted items. Depending on when the gift-giver purchased the item and the retailer’s return policy, you may have several weeks to return or exchange your items. Waiting may mean shorter lines and better inventory for exchanges.

Holiday Shopping Tip of the Day: Give a gift in their name!

Have someone on your list who’s hard to shop for? Skip the guesswork and give a gift that truly matters by making a donation to their favorite charity in their name! It’s thoughtful, impactful, and supports a cause they care about. You may also ask the charity for a donation certificate—or create your own—and present it in a festive card or frame!

It’s a meaningful keepsake that shows you put care into their gift. This kind of giving spreads joy far beyond the holidays!
