We can all agree that springtime for educators and students can get busy, especially for the Columbus High School SkillsUSA Chapter! On Thursday and Friday, ten students from Columbus High School went to the Nebraska State Leadership Conference to compete in nine different competitions.

When all was said and done, three students qualified for their respective national competitions. These students will be competing and representing Columbus High School in the mechatronics and motorcycle service technology contests.

Every student gave it their all, and we couldn't be more proud of their performance. The Columbus High School SkillsUSA chapter would like to thank everyone who has shown their support in cheering these hard working students on, and we hope you continue to support the students as they prepare to compete again next year, and to carry our national qualifiers all the way to Atlanta.

We look forward to working towards these national level competitions, and we can't wait to see what is in store for the chapter next year. Do not hesitate to congratulate these hard working members, because even though the state conference is completed this year, we are already preparing for what comes next.

It has been an eventful couple of days! After finishing the trip to Atlanta, we were able to explore the competition center and find the competition sites. Tuesday night we attended the opening ceremony for the national conference where we listened to the US Secretary of Education drive home the importance of CTE Education, and ended the night with a performance from the world class dance group Light Balance.

On Sunday May 15th, Tracy Dodson, as well as the 2021-2022 SkillsUSA chapter had our end of the year celebration. We celebrated the success and legacy of the Columbus Public School chapter founder, as Tracy Dodson is set to retire at the conclusion of the 2021-2022 school year. Tracy Dodson has taught at Columbus High School for 33 years, and has led a total of 67 students to earning a state championship through SkillsUSA. Congratulations to Tracey Dodson, and all the students who participated in SkillsUSA this year. Please cheer them on as four of our members will be travelling to Atlanta Georgia to compete at the national level.
