Civil Air Patrol, the longtime all-volunteer U.S. Air Force auxiliary, is the newest member of the Air Force’s Total Force, which consists of regular Air Force, Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve, along with Air Force retired military and civilian employees. CAP, in its Total Force role, operates a fleet of 550 aircraft and performs about 90 percent of continental U.S. inland search and rescue missions as tasked by the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center and is credited by the AFRCC with saving an average of 78 lives annually. Civil Air Patrol’s 56,000 members nationwide also perform homeland security, disaster relief and drug interdiction missions at the request of federal, state and local agencies. Its members additionally play a leading role in aerospace education and serve as mentors to more than 24,000 young people currently participating in the CAP cadet program. Performing missions for America for the past 75 years, CAP received the Congressional Gold Medal in 2014 in honor of the heroic efforts of its World War II veterans. Ohio Wing Civil Air Patrol Marksmanship Weekend

This past weekend, 35 Civil Air Patrol cadets participated in two one-day marksmanship events at the Erie County Conservation League, located in Milan, OH, gaining valuable instruction and hands-on experience in safe, responsible fi****ms handling and prone-position marksmanship.

Volunteer NRA instructors with Revere’s Riders provided instruction throughout the weekend, teaching cadets the fundamentals of marksmanship while emphasizing safety, discipline, focus, and following established range procedures.

We are proud to share that 32 cadets successfully qualified for an NRA marksmanship rating!

Most importantly, the weekend was conducted as a safe and positive learning experience, giving cadets an opportunity to develop skills that require patience, concentration, responsibility, and attention to detail.

A huge thank you to the ECCL for your hospitality, Revere's Riders volunteer instructors, range safety officer staff, and everyone who helped make this weekend possible. Your time and dedication provided an outstanding experience for our cadets!

Throughout July and August, we have posted information about Coastal Base 14 (CP-14), which was established by Ohio Wing members on July 16th, 1942, in Panama City, Florida.

On this day in 1943, CP-14 was deactivated after one year of continuous operations as Civil Air Patrol relinquished its coastal patrol mission to the War Department. Today and everyday, we remember the efforts of Ohio Wing's brave volunteers in all of CAP's past missions.
