Last Friday, Mayor Kingston of The City of Brecksville Ohio and I proudly co-hosted a business roundtable.

This joyful experience not only gave us time to connect to local businesses of all types, but presented time to discuss workforce development & economic growth for the Brecksville community.

Following The Buckeye Institute’s event yesterday, I was interviewed by Spectrum News 1 Ohio’s Tonisha Johnson, where I continued to voice my support of higher education reform.

Some say, Ohio's future is at stake.

This afternoon, it was a pleasure to join the The Buckeye Institute for a panel discussion on higher education. I explained the importance of passing Senate Bill 83 to ensure students can experience true diversity of thought on campus and that our taxpayers are not paying for bloated administrative costs.

As Chair of the Ohio Senate Workforce and Higher Education Committee, I recently had a productive visit to Wright State University with State Representative Tom Young.

On campus, we toured some of the latest technology being used to train our future nurses & medical professionals and had a very informative discussion with President Susan Edwards and Board of Trustees Chair, Tom Gunlock.

Last week, I had the opportunity to meet with some of our districts strong leadership.

I started the day in The City of Brecksville Ohio, where I toured the city’s facilities with Mayor Kingston while discussing the importance of a strong relationship between local and state government.

I then spent time in Independence, OH at a business roundtable, where I was joined by State Senator Rob McColley, local businesses, Independence Mayor Kurtz, and other city officials. We discussed issues affecting businesses both in the district and statewide including energy policy, child care and the future of Ohio’s workforce.

To end the day, Senator McColley and I met with JumpStart Inc., a venture development firm focused on supporting and growing Ohio’s small businesses and with New Bridge Cleveland, a medical educational center that trains students for jobs necessary in hospitals across the region.

The unwavering courage and strength that Jack Sawyer demonstrated throughout his battle with cancer were an inspiration to the community of Mentor and the entire state of Ohio. Jack will always be a special part of our community, and I extend my prayers to the Sawyer family during this difficult time.

I was proud to honor Solon City Schools by meeting with Superintendent Fred Bolden as the school was recently recognized as being ranked No. 1 on ODE’s 2022-2023 report card. SCS is an incredible example of great leadership and care for their students and community. I applaud their scholastic performance and look forward to watching their future growth and achievement.

Today, as always, I stand with Israel and condemn the insidious, heinous and unprovoked acts of war and hatred perpetrated by Hamas terrorists. I call on all of my fellow Americans to do the same.

Today we remember all those who lost their lives on the morning of September 11, 2001. May we also pay tribute to the thousands of brave first responders who selflessly and tirelessly rushed into harm's way to save their fellow Americans.

Yesterday I visited the Maltz Museum in Beachwood and spent time touring with the Director and Development Officer. I was happy to secure substantial funding for Maltz to continue their education efforts to make sure future generations never forget about the Holocaust.

The museum is a great place to visit not only because of the Holocaust remembrance . It also features the history of the Jewish community’s contributions to great Cleveland and the country.

I have always enjoyed a great relationship with the cleveland Jewish community and look forward to a strong continued relationship.
