Franklin County First Step: Turn Your Release into a Real Fresh Start
If you’re returning home from incarceration, Franklin County First Step is designed for you. This isn’t just another resource fair—it’s your chance to get real issues solved on the spot.
Join us Friday, October 2nd, from 9 AM to 12 PM and take a concrete first step toward stability, independence, and long‑term success.
At Franklin County First Step, you can:
• Fix driver’s license or state ID problems
• Connect with job training and real employment opportunities
• Get help with child support or legal questions
• Explore housing options and applications
• Access physical and mental healthcare resources
• Get connected with case managers and workforce specialists who can stay in your corner
Multiple agencies will be on-site and ready to work with you directly, including:
Jobs & Family Services (JFS), Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV), Legal Aid Society of Columbus, Child Support Enforcement Agency, Social Security Administration, PrimaryOne Health, Goodwill, COTA, Community Properties of Ohio, Center for Employment Opportunities (CEO), and OhioMeansJobs.
Instead of leaving with a stack of flyers, you leave having completed at least one meaningful step—such as starting a job-training enrollment, resolving an ID issue, or beginning a housing or benefits application.
Franklin County First Step is one of the county’s key initiatives to support justice‑involved residents in building a stable, productive life after incarceration. Take advantage of the agencies, services, and people that are coming together in one place to help you move forward.
