Good illustration of fire stations from years ago to today. With all the carcinogens in fire now, firefighters have a higher risk of cancer. Having dirty and clean areas for firefighters to clean up before going home and spreading carcinogens to their family is of upmost importance. New stations now also have systems to prevent vehicle exhaust to accumulate in the fire station which also contain carcinogens. The lives of our members and their families are and should be of upmost importance. Please come to our station on October 7th or setup a time to come have a tour to see the needs of our department. The needs above do not include how stressed we are for desired room to fit the fire apparatus in the station, along with more room for firefighters to have room to get dressed. We have training props, trailers and our 1925 antique fire truck in a separate location because there is no room for them at the current station. Having everything in one location allows for efficiency.

Unfortunately the fire department will not make it to the homecoming flag raise. We had a car fire by the lights that the gas line ruptured and crews did an awesome knockdown but a lot of salvage and overhaul to get at the seat of the fire. We are just getting back to the station at 630 and have a good 1 1/2 hours of cleanup to put all the apparatus back in service for the next call. Go Cards!

It has been a powerful and eventful weekend for the Columbus Fire Department, our members, and our families as we came together to honor the 25th anniversary of 9/11.

On the evening of September 11th, CFD members participated in the Silent Parade held in Juneau to honor the lives lost and the sacrifices made on that day.

Today, our CFD members, family, and friends pushed their limits at the 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb, climbing the equivalent of 110 stories, the height of the World Trade Center towers, in memory of the fallen heroes.

We are incredibly proud to share that thanks to your amazing generosity, our team raised $1,610 for the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, officially surpassing our $1,500 goal! To make this achievement even more special, we had a record number of climbers join our team this year.

To everyone who donated, supported, and climbed alongside us: Thank you. Your support ensures that the legacy of these brave men and women lives on.
