The City of Columbus Junction seeks an experienced, forward-thinking, and community-focused professional to serve as its next Chief of Police. This leadership position is responsible for directing all operations of the Police Department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality public safety services, and fostering strong relationships between law enforcement and the community. Salary dependent upon certifications and experience. Please submit a resume, cover letter, and 3 references.
Qualifications:
• Must be willing to work a variable schedule to include some weekends and holidays as necessary
• Applicant must be able to meet minimum hiring standards as outlined in Iowa Administrative Code-501, pass a written
• exam, psychological evaluation, physical test and background check
• Applicant requires strong communication and public relations skills
• Preference given to those living within 10 air miles of Columbus Junction
Benefits include: Paid Time Off, IPERS retirement, Health Insurance
Salary: Commensurate with experience: $65,000 minimum
Applicants are subject to a background investigation, drug test as provided by Iowa law, and yearly performance review. Applicants must meet all of the lowa law Enforcement Academy minimum hiring standards and pass the required tests. Iowa Law Enforcement Academy certified is preferred.
