WOW! SOLD OUT! 💥 We’re incredibly grateful for the amazing support shown at last night’s bingo benefit! The turnout was outstanding, and it truly means the world to everyone at the Columbus Grove Fire Department.

Events like this remind us how strong and supportive our community is. Your generosity and participation help us continue to serve and protect to the best of our ability.

As this was just our first year for this event, we are thankful for any and all input on our suggestion cards on how we can improve the event in the future, but these firefighters might just stick to keeping our shirts on!😉

🔥 Several newer members of CGFD spent their morning brushing up on drafting techniques in the event of a rural fire.
🚨(FUN FACT!) Due to not having fire hydrants in rural areas of our fire district, firefighters are forced to use sources of water such as ponds and streams. A fire engine is designated to a water source closest to the fire where they will draft the water and pump it from the engine into tankers. The tankers will then drive to the fire where they will supply on scene fire engines with the necessary amounts of water they may need. Pictured is a dry hydrant that is pre-plumbed into a pond ensuring firefighters a faster and easier access to these types of water sources! In the instance of no dry hydrant, the hard suction can be placed directly into the body of water where the water will be drafted out.💦🚒

⚠️ CGFD units are currently on scene of a semi rollover on St. Rt. 65 near Rd. P. Due to the extreme winds and areas of zero visibility near the scene, St. Rt. 65 is shut down northbound from Columbus Grove until crews clear.⚠️ CGFD also has units responding to the 100 block of West St. for a report of a tree and power lines down on an occupied house.

Back in December the State Fire Marshal announced a grant opportunity for volunteer fire departments in rural Ohio counties under a certain population, which included Putnam.

We are happy to say, Putnam County departments did very well! Congratulations to these departments for receiving much needed funding for different life-saving equipment!
