Good afternoon noon Columbus AFB. We have been marked under the slight category once again for severe. The threats we are looking at are moderate wind and half inch hail tomorrow evening staring at 6pm-9pm.

Main line of storms will pass over CAFB in the next 30 minutes. Expected winds now are 35mph. Should see a nice light show overnight from the lightning flashes but the threat for severe weather has significantly reduced.

The line of thunderstorms is slowly making its way across the state. So far, the concerning storms are near Tupelo and northward. The storms on a path to CAFB do not currently have any severe indicators and are expected to arrive in a couple of hours. We will continue to monitor these storms in case anything changes.

We have issued severe thunderstorm and tornado watches for the CAFB between the hours of 11pm - 6am.

These are watches which means there is *potential* for these events to occur tonight. We are still thinking CAFB will see 40-45 mph winds and there is probability that a EF0-EF1 tornado will occur in the county.

We will issue a warning if/when we see concrete evidence of severe weather approaching the base.

Tonight 8pm - midnight and tomorrow morning 4am - 8am we are expecting winds up to 40-45 mph to affect CAFB. There is a low possibility for small EF0-EF1 tornados to form in the local area. But the main threat is looking to be straight line winds.

Line of thunderstorms are moving into our area and should pass over the base in the next hour. These storms have potential to produce 1 inch hail and 50 mph winds. If you are able to do so, now would be a good time to move your vehicle into a overhang or garage.

Good Evening,While it’s quiet in the Columbus area for the time being, severe storms with large hail are forming well to the northwest in Arkansas and Missouri ahead of the cold front. Still expecting the severe weather in our area to come in early in the morning, generally between 3am-6am. These storms will most likely contain some hail up to 1 inch, with possible damaging winds. Last but definitely not least, there’s still a chance for some tornadic activity along this line as it makes its way through northern MS. More updates coming once watches and warnings are issued.

Good Afternoon,

Columbus AFB and the surrounding area continue to be at risk for severe weather overnight tomorrow night into Monday morning. The severe weathere threats remain the same, with large hail and damaging winds being the highest risk, although some tornadoes in the region are not out of the question. At this time, it’s looking like the worst of the weather will be between 3-6am Monday. We will provide another update tomorrow morning if anything changes, especially with timing.
