Recently, District Attorney Matt Casey was honored to present former Shelby County ADA Brooke Grigsby with an award that honors her 20+ years of service to Shelby County and the state of Alabama. Ms. Grigsby served in many different capacities in our office over the years and while her role with the justice system has changed, she will always be SCDA family.

I am deeply honored to have been named the 2026 Coroner of the Year by the International Association of Coroners and Medical Examiners (IACME) during this past week’s conference in Las Vegas.

To be recognized among so many dedicated colleagues from across the country and around the world is truly humbling. Representing Shelby County, Alabama on an international stage is a privilege I don't take lightly.

I do this work—not for recognition—but out of a genuine passion for serving our community and supporting families when they need it most.
