Together SC

Together SC Together SC brings together SC's charitable nonprofits and their allies to advance the greater good. WE ARE ALLIES FOR GOOD!

Together SC was formed in 1997 by nonprofit leaders from across the state. Together SC is South Carolina’s only organization focused solely on supporting and strengthening the state’s nonprofit community through education, advocacy, communications, collaboration and leadership. We are comprised of 800+ members representing nonprofit organizations, business partners, associations, foundations and p

hilanthropic organizations, government agencies and academic institutions. We believe the world will be a better place when all people work together for good. We’re on a mission to strengthen, unite and advance South Carolina’s nonprofit and philanthropic community by learning together, speaking together and leading together.

About 1 in every 12 South Carolina jobs is connected to the nonprofit sector measured in this report.

That may surprise you.

Nonprofits accounted for approximately 8.1% of total statewide employment in the 2023 analysis.

That's because nonprofits aren't operating on the margins of South Carolina's economy.

They're hospitals and health organizations. Educational institutions. Human service providers. Arts organizations. Community development groups. Foundations. And thousands of organizations employing the people who keep vital services and communities moving.

The numbers tell an important story:

Doing good and driving economic activity aren't opposites. South Carolina nonprofits do both.

More than 150 Midlands area nonprofit and philanthropic leaders came together for the Nonprofit P.E.E.R. Meetup at Central Carolina Community Foundation

P.E.E.R. stands for Party to Enhance Equity in Relationships, and that spirit was felt throughout the afternoon as leaders reconnected, welcomed new faces, and built authentic relationships across the sector.

Thank you to Central Carolina Community Foundation for partnering with us and to everyone who joined us to strengthen connections across the Midlands.

Behind every nonprofit mission are South Carolinians at work.

Teachers. Nurses. Counselors. Accountants. Case managers. Researchers. Fundraisers. Administrators. Artists. Program leaders. Technicians. Community advocates.

In 2023, South Carolina nonprofits filing the full Form 990 reported approximately 194,501 employees.

That means the nonprofit sector isn't simply part of our social fabric.

It is a major part of South Carolina's workforce.

Every one of those jobs represents more than a paycheck. It represents household income, professional expertise and people going to work every day to strengthen the communities we share.

Nonprofits don't just serve South Carolina.

South Carolinians work for them.
