This weekend was a wonderful reflection of the people, traditions, and values that make our district unique.

On Friday, I had the opportunity to be in Jackson attending the Mississippi Children, Youth, and Families Collaboration Initiative. It was an important day focused on strengthening support systems and ensuring best practices within our court systems. These conversations matter, because investing in our children today means building a stronger Mississippi for tomorrow.

Saturday was spent in Tylertown at the 49th Annual Walthall County Dairy Festival at Holmes Water Park. From butter churning to sack races, turtle races, and even a mooing contest, it was a full day of fun, fellowship, and long standing traditions. We had a wonderful time visiting with members of the community, and we are grateful to have had the opportunity to set up our booth.

On Sunday we slowed down for our regular church service and two very special celebrations. Yesterday marked our 40th wedding anniversary, and we also attended a party for the birthdays of our grandson, Henry, and his friend and our fellow church member, Esau.

We are thankful for every conversation and every moment spent with the people who make this district home.

I was proud to spend my weekend participating in events that celebrated both community unity and family fun. I was honored to speak at the Law Enforcement Unity Prayer Day presented by Watts Dream Investments LLC on Saturday in downtown Columbia. The event brought together law enforcement officers, community leaders, families, and citizens to pray for the safety, strength, and guidance of those who serve and protect our communities each day. Events like these remind us of the importance of coming together as a community and showing our appreciation for those who answer the call to serve.

On Saturday morning and afternoon, I enjoyed spending time with my family at the Black and Blueberry Festival at Sandy Run Farm. It was a great event, and I loved visiting with local vendors, supporting small businesses, and spending time with family and friends. Events like these showcase the best of our community and provide an opportunity to celebrate the people, businesses, and traditions that make our area such a special place to call home.

Thank you to everyone who attended and made the day so special. I am grateful for every opportunity to meet with the people of our district and share my vision for serving as Chancery Court Judge.

It has been another rewarding week spent connecting with our community!

I had the opportunity to sponsor the Columbia-Marion County Public Library’s Summer Reading Event, and this year’s dinosaur theme made it especially fun and engaging for the kids. We were thrilled to welcome The Dinosaur Experience from Baton Rouge, who delivered a fun, interactive dinosaur showcase that inspired curiosity and a love of learning. It is always inspiring to see so many young children eager to read, explore, and grow over the summer! Thank you to the Marion County Community Impact Commission and the Marion County Library staff for all of their hard work in making this event a success.
I wrapped up the evening at the Marion County Republican Women’s meeting, where Ken Morgan provided an insightful and informative update on this year’s legislation.

This morning I attended Catchy Friday, where Mayor Justin McKenzie shared updates on Columbia’s upcoming 250th Fourth of July celebration. This event will be especially meaningful as it coincides with Columbia’s 207th anniversary, coming just days after the original charter of our city. It is exciting to see the planning underway for such a meaningful milestone in our community’s history, and I look forward to all that’s ahead.

My team and I are grateful for days that allow me to be involved, give back, and stay connected with the people and events that make our community so special!

I thoroughly enjoyed attending two Memorial Day programs yesterday that served as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by so many. I had the opportunity to start my morning in Tylertown at The American Legion Memorial Day Celebration. It was an honor to hear Jason Smith share a meaningful message about Joshua Palmer, who served alongside him and gave his life in service to our country.

I was also able to spend time in Marion County at the Memorial Day Celebration at The Church on Main. The ceremony was originally scheduled for Legions Square Monument, but the weather did not allow for the event to be held outdoors. Columbia is so fortunate to have such a special place to honor all who have served. It was a pleasure to hear from John Gist, Commander of the 155th Armored Brigade Combat Team, and I am grateful for all those who continue to lead and serve with honor. May we never forget that our freedom is not free.

It has been another busy and exciting week being out in the community!

Monday night, I attended the Walthall County Republican meeting where we heard from Richard Boyanton and Lindsay Cranford. On Tuesday, I attended the Lamar/Forrest County Republican Women’s event at Movie Star Restaurant, where we heard from a representative of Wreaths Across America and learned more about their mission to honor our veterans. On Tuesday evening, I attended a fundraiser at Cuevas Fish House-supporting the recent Purvis tornado victims.

Wednesday included attending the Ambassadors meeting at the Columbia Expo Center with a great fish lunch. Thank you to Jamie and Karen Taylor for cooking, Maggie Ingram for providing the coleslaw, and Walmart for providing the fish. It was a great time to gather together and enjoy a wonderful lunch and message! I also had the opportunity to attend the 25-year celebration of CARS. We wrapped up the week Thursday night with a visit to Stogner's Fish Camp in Tylertown.

We are grateful for every opportunity to stay involved, support wonderful causes, and connect with so many people across our communities! We hope you all have a great and safe Memorial Day weekend!

We decided to take the weekend off from our important campaign. Because of our busy calendar we had not been able to see our Dallas grandchildren participate in their spring sports. It was a perfect weekend to go see them play because of their schedules. We got to see Halle play softball and soccer and also got to see Ellis play t-ball. We got to see Isla be that younger child that gets to attend her older siblings events. Her day is coming! We also got to attend church with them, Javan and Natalie on Sunday. We thank God for this special time.

Although we were out of town, we were proud to still be a part of two great events that took place in the district. After two weeks of rain delays the Greater Picayune Area Chamber of Commerce held their annual crawfish cook off. We understand from attendees that it was a great event. We thank the Chamber of Picayune for letting us sponsor. In addition we were also a sponsor for the Autism Awareness walk held at Friendship Park in Columbia. It also had to be rescheduled due to rain, but we are so proud to support such a meaningful cause.

On Thursday night we were able to sponsor and attend the Pearl River Community College Alumni Awards Ceremony. The evening was dedicated to celebrating the individuals who embody the spirit of the college. We thoroughly enjoyed attending, and we would like to wish a special congratulations to all of the winners. We look forward to another wonderful week of being out in the community!
