The South Carolina Correctional Association (SCCA) will host their first ever Men’s Task Force Workshop on Friday, June 26, from 8:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. The theme is “The Making of a Good Man.”

This workshop is designed to bring men in the corrections field together to address challenges, strengthen leadership, and allow for collaboration that enhances service delivery.

Yesterday, the South Carolina Correctional Association proudly hosted its annual Women’s Task Force Conference, titled She Leads.”

This inspiring event brought women together from agencies statewide including South Carolina Department of Corrections and SCDJJ for a day of motivation, empowerment, and meaningful conversation focused on leadership, growth, and excellence within corrections. From powerful speakers to engaging sessions, the conference highlighted the strength, resilience, and impact of women who lead with purpose.

Women’s Taskforce
Anderson-Morton Stellar Award

The South Carolina Correctional Association’s (SCCA) Women’s Taskforce Committee established the Anderson-Morton Stellar award in September of 2015 and was approved by the SCCA executive officers and board. The award is named for Judy Anderson and Joann Morton, two women who have and
continue to contribute untiringly to the professional development of women in corrections and improving correctional policies. The introduction of the award was conducted during the Annual
Women’s Taskforce Conference in 2015. The award will be presented annually at the Women’s Taskforce Conference each year. Nomination forms will be provided to SCCA members with a deadline for return to the Committee. The Women’s Taskforce Committee will review nominations and select a
recipient of the award.

PURPOSE
To acknowledge someone who has significantly contributed to the advancement of women in the
correctional profession; to reward outstanding service to the SCCA and the correctional professional;
and to recognize an individual who has inspired others to strive for excellence.

CRITERIA
• Must be a current SCCA member.
• Must have an outstanding contribution to the SCCA and the correctional profession in terms of
vision, service and professional development.
• Must engage in an individual or on-going service which aided or promoted better community
awareness or understanding of an aspect of the corrections or criminal justice field; or
• Must demonstrate a commitment to the highest professional goals and standards in the
profession and in so doing inspired others to emulate positive productive initiatives, hard work,
vision and values.
