🐝🌻 Bzz... a new story is blooming on the Storybook Trail!

Join a sweet little honeybee as she buzzes from flower to flower in The Honeybee by Kirsten Hall and illustrated by Isabelle Arsenault. Filled with gorgeous artwork and a playful rhythm, this month's story is a perfect companion for a summer walk through the park.

To access the trail: Enter Maury County Park and continue straight on the main park road. Pass the Kids' Kingdom playground on the right, and continue straight up the hill. Halfway up the hill, there is a trailhead with parking on the right.

We had an herb-y good time at this month’s Can You Dig It?! 🌿

This morning, we spent some time in the Yanahli Park Community Garden learning how to identify, harvest, and use common herbs in everyday recipes. Plus, we got a few warm-season crops tucked into the garden beds.

Big thanks to everyone who came out — we love seeing the garden grow alongside this community!💚

Missed this one? Don’t worry, Can You Dig It? is a monthly series! Join us next month for "Rot Happens, Just Compost It!"

Our May Storybook is back on the trail! 📚🌿✨

Lace up your walking shoes and head over to the Storybook Trail in Maury County Park to enjoy “Up in the Garden and Down in the Dirt” by Kate Messner. Up in the garden, everything’s reaching for the sun—leaves, sprouts, veggies, and fruit doing their spring thing. But don’t forget to look down… beneath your feet is a whole busy world of earthworms tunneling, slithering snakes, and critters making a home in the soil.

🏞️ Finding the trail: Enter Maury County Park and continue straight on the main park road. Pass Kids Kingdom and head up the hill—the trailhead and parking will be on your right.

Happy Earth Day from Maury County Parks & Recreation 💚🌎

We hope you're able to find the time to get outside and enjoy this beautiful space we share together! Looking for a little bit of Earth Day whimsy? Scroll through and check out some of our favorite animal encounters from this month: a box turtle found on a hike, a bee hive on the move, and a little frog hiding in the hoop house.

Big thanks to Owl's Hill Nature Sanctuary for delivering an absolutely phenomenal program for our first ever Nature Lab! 🦉 We had a blast learning all about Tennessee’s owls, meeting one up close, and then digging through some owl vomit (or owl pellet, whatever you prefer!)

We will resume monthly Nature Lab programs in the Fall, so stay tuned for more to come! 🌻💫🌲
