🚧 As a reminder, crews are continuing mill and overlay pavement maintenance on streets throughout Columbia. Work is scheduled daily through Sept. 28, weather permitting.

One lane should be open at all times. When work is taking place, please feel free to speak with workers for specifics if there are any questions about getting in and out of your residential area.

🚧 𝐌𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐚𝐲 𝐩𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐢𝐚 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭. 𝟖-𝟏𝟏

Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 8, Capital Paving, contractor for the City of Columbia Public Works department, will perform pavement maintenance at the following locations:

• The North Garth Avenue and Blue Ridge Road roundabout
• Fox Trot Drive from Sea Eagle Drive to Alligator Lane
• Medavista Drive from West Rollins Road to Ridge Road
• Ridge Road from West Boulevard to Medavista Drive
• Marion Drive from West Rollins Road to Ridge Road
• Bittersweet Court from Tracy Drive to the end of the street
• Tracy Drive from Sunset Lane to West Stewart Road
• Hillside Drive from West Broadway to Sunset Lane
• Pershing Road from West Broadway to Worley Street
• Pinewood Drive from Gary Street to the north end
• Gary Street from Clinkscales Road to Pershing Road
• London Drive from West Boulevard to Rowe Lane
• London Drive from Rowe Lane west to the concrete
• Mikel Street from West Boulevard to Clayton Street
• Mikel Street from Clayton Street to West Sexton Road
• Jewell Avenue from Business Loop 70 to West Forest Avenue
• Jewell Avenue from West Forest Avenue to West Sexton Road

Crews will mill away the worn top layer of asphalt and pave a new asphalt surface to improve the condition of the roadway. Crews plan to start on the south end of Columbia and move north.

Work will take place daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and is expected to be completed by 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, weather permitting.

Temporary lane closures will be necessary while crews are working. Traffic control signs and flaggers will guide motorists through the work zones as needed. Drivers should use caution and consider alternate routes when possible.

🅿️ On streets where parking is permitted, temporary "No Parking" signs will be posted at least 24 hours in advance. Please observe the dates and times listed on the signs so crews can complete the work as efficiently as possible.

🚧 𝐆𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐳𝐚 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐓𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭. 𝟖

From Sept. 8 to Oct. 8, Grindstone Plaza Drive will be closed between Grindstone Parkway and Gray Oak Drive for contractor work for the private development.

The contractor will widen Grindstone Plaza Drive to accommodate future business development on the east side of Grindstone Plaza Drive.

During the closure, the sidewalk crossing on the north side of Grindstone Parkway will be closed at Grindstone Plaza Drive. Signs will be posted one block away at Green Meadows Road and Rock Quarry Road advising pedestrians to cross to the south sidewalk.

Drivers needing to access businesses on the east side of the shopping area should use the north entrance on Gray Oak Drive, or use the main Walmart entrance on Grindstone Parkway.

Construction of a new roundabout at South Fairview Road and Chapel Hill Road begins Tuesday, Sept. 8. Construction will continue into winter.

Chapel Hill Road will remain open throughout construction, but drivers should expect delays and consider alternate routes when possible.

Later phases will include the closure of South Fairview Road north of Chapel Hill Road.

The project also includes stormwater improvements and new sidewalk along the north side of Chapel Hill Road, east of Fairview Road. Public Works will provide updates as construction progresses.

🚧 𝐒𝐭. 𝐉𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐩𝐡 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐰𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐝

Work is underway to improve sidewalks along St. Joseph Street between East Ash Street and Park Avenue.

Contractors for the City of Columbia Public Works department are repairing broken sidewalk panels, replacing driveway approaches and improving sidewalk ramps. Work will continue through early November, weather permitting.

Crews will work on one side of the street at a time, keeping the sidewalk on the opposite side open for pedestrians. Signs will direct pedestrians to the appropriate sidewalk and safe crossing points as work progresses.

Parking spaces along both sides of St. Joseph Street will be needed for the work. “No Parking” signs will be posted in spaces needed for construction. Please avoid parking in signed spaces during the dates and times posted on the signs.

Thank you for your patience as we make these improvements to St. Joseph Street.

🚧 𝐏𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐨𝐧 𝐑𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐝

Starting at 7 a.m. Friday, Aug. 28, Lionmark Contracting will begin applying Onyx surface treatment to City streets that received chip seal earlier this year.

Work starts on West Rollins Road between South Fairview Road and Stadium Boulevard. Temporary lane closures will be necessary, so motorists should use caution and consider an alternate route.

Onyx helps seal and protect the chip-sealed surface while providing a smoother finished roadway.

ATTN COLUMBIA: The ramp from U.S. 63 to westbound I-70 (Exit 128) in Columbia is set to close overnight Thursday, Aug. 27, for the placement of temporary barriers. Drivers must use an alternate route during the ramp closure.
