Sometimes Memorial Day and Veterans Day get confused.
Many people simply were never taught the difference.

Memorial Day honors those who never made it home.
Veterans Day honors all who have served.

One remembers the ultimate sacrifice.
One celebrates service.

Both deserve our gratitude.
Both deserve to be understood.

The holiday is not about correcting people harshly — it’s about educating everyone why these days matter so deeply to so many families.

Today, we extend our heartfelt thanks to Greg Murphy, National Director of Taps for Veterans, for sounding Taps at the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C. in honor of Honor Flight Network Illinois.

For the veterans gathered there, and for the families and guardians standing beside them, those 24 notes carried something words could never fully express: respect, remembrance, and the enduring promise that their service will never be forgotten.

Greg’s dedication reflects the very heart of our mission — honoring America’s veterans with dignity through the live sounding of Taps.
