REMEMBERING SEPTEMBER 11, 2001

On Patriot Day, we pause to remember the nearly 3,000 innocent lives lost on September 11, 2001, and the countless families, friends, and communities forever changed by that day.

We honor the first responders, firefighters, police officers, EMTs, and military personnel who demonstrated extraordinary courage and selflessness in the face of unimaginable tragedy. We remember those who ran toward danger while others were running away.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to Remember. Honor. Reflect.

♻️ Expanded Battery Recycling Now Available! ♻️

We’re excited to share an update to the Monroe County Battery Recycling Program!

Residents can now recycle more types of batteries — including certain lithium batteries — at approved drop-off locations throughout Monroe County.

✅ ACCEPTED:
🔋 Portable rechargeable batteries under 11 lbs.
🔋 Single-use (primary) batteries
📱 Cell phones

⚠️ NOT ACCEPTED:
❌ Car batteries (Wet batteries)
❌ Damaged or defective batteries
❌ Batteries over 11 lbs.
❌ High energy batteries over 300 watt-hours (Outdoor power equipment, scooters, e-bikes, etc.)
❌ Batteries that are part of a recall
