Huge area wide swim meet taking place today at Muletown Rec. I’m as convinced as ever that we must ensure this aquatic facility remains an active, viable aquatic complex in our town. It provides too many opportunities for our youth and young at heart to simply let slip away.

I am pleased that the City of Columbia, TN - Government has taken the lead in exploring an opportunity to ensure these pools remain; am proud that our City Council understands the importance as well; and will look forward to continued conversations in the days ahead as we look to make this a reality for our community. —CM

Hey guys! Just wanted you to know that I’m still here! 💪🏽🤩 I am still waiting on responses from emails I have sent to our city leaders requesting an update on Information regarding the status of a community pool. 🏊
I am planning to attend the September City council meeting to inquire in person. I will post the date this week!

I just can’t shake the feeling that it’s not too late to correct this wrong.

A Summer lost.

Years of memories of the fun at the Fairview Pool now shoved into history.

Continued prayers that this closed chapter means BIGGER and BETTER are on the way for our city! 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

Watching the kiddos running through the the water in the splash pad today was a nice break from the 97 degrees heat!

It reminds me of the days we would turn on the sprinklers in the yard and play in the water.

As I was sitting watching my heart broke. All I could think of was how this generation of children, growing up in our beautiful town are not being afforded the same life saving opportunities to learn to swim. In our community, we shouldn’t have to pay a ridiculously high cost for limited access to a pool our community dollars helped pay for over the years!

It’s offensive to see even smaller communities and neighborhoods be able to maintain public pool facilities yet we make excuses for stripping those same community benefits from our children!

Sometimes even things that may not appear to generate income generate things much better! It provides opportunities to save lives and greatly contribute to the health and safety of the citizens.

We deserve equal affordable access to aquatic wellness.

THESE WERE THE OFFERINGS OF THE FAIRVIEW PARK POOL which was our ONLY city pool (see photos)

Unfortunately we lost our pool earlier in 2024 when it was filled in with concrete with plans to replace it with a splash pad.

We lost a value piece of history and equally important, a needed form of recreation and wellness that benefited all ages in our community.

We are still awaiting an update from Mayor Molder on the possible acquisition of Muletown Rec.

We are not stopping at this possible solution but merely keeping up with possibilities!

We the citizens of Columbia deserve to have recreational opportunities that are enjoyable to all ages and ability levels.

It takes each one of us speaking up to ensure the amenities we’ve had for decades are not stripped away without our input!

One for all, all for one!
