The Score Against Hunger Game is just one week from today, and we are looking for 5 to 10 more volunteers to join us! This is a fun opportunity for fans to engage with tailgaters while helping neighbors in our community.

On Saturday, Sept. 19, volunteers will travel in pairs or small groups around Memorial Stadium parking lots, visiting with fans and tailgaters to talk about the Score Against Hunger campaign and help raise money for The Food Bank.

As we commemorate the 25th anniversary of September 11, we remember those we lost and honor the many who rushed in to help. In the face of unimaginable uncertainty, people came together to serve, comfort and protect one another. Their courage reminds us of the strength found in helping each other through our greatest challenges.

Today, we honor the helpers and recommit ourselves to the belief that we are stronger together.

Thanks to all who joined us to help neighbors on this 9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance.

We celebrated our 45th anniversary with a ribbon cutting this afternoon. The Food Bank President and CEO Lindsay Lopez spoke about how far we've come and how none of it would be possible without our community's support.

Lindsay put it best when she said, "Our work is complicated. It's changed dramatically, but in the end, the mission is as simple as when we started. It's about neighbors feeding neighbors. It takes all of us in every community in all 32 counties that we serve.”

We are so grateful for each and every one of you. 💜

Today is The Food Bank's 45th anniversary, and we’ve been reflecting on how far we’ve come as an organization. One recent milestone was opening The Food Bank Market on the Business Loop.

The Market is a food pantry that is owned and operated by The Food Bank. The Food Bank’s first pantry (and office) started in a 5,000-square-foot building on North Seventh Street. In 2009, Central Pantry opened on Big Bear Boulevard. We moved the pantry and renamed it The Market in 2023.

Since moving the pantry to its current spot, we've significantly improved and expanded our services and practices. The Market is modeled after a grocery store and uses a choice model, which means people can pick the items they want based on their household size. We shifted from sharing mostly canned and shelf-stable items to fresher options. The Market consistently serves over 11,000 neighbors each month, about a thousand more people than at our previous location.

In addition to providing food, The Market serves as a hub for neighbors to discover and connect with other community resources, including health care and utility assistance. The Market also offers nutrition education programs for people who want to learn how to prepare healthy meals on a budget.

Have you heard? We turn 45 next week!

A lot has changed since 1981. A significant moment came in the 2000s, when we introduced Mobile Pantries, now known as Mobile Markets. Mobile Markets help fill gaps in areas with limited brick-and-mortar options. They can also respond to urgent needs during emergencies. The trucks are refrigerated, allowing us to share fresh produce, protein and dairy.

It started as an experimental pilot program with one truck in 2004. Today, Mobile Markets are a staple of our food distribution. Last fiscal year, we held more than 77,000 household shops at Mobile Market events across more than a dozen sites!

The Food Bank continually monitors and evaluates food insecurity in our 32-county service area. Mobile Markets are intended to help us meet the need in areas where brick-and-mortar pantries are not established, or not enough to meet the need, while we help communities increase more permanent access. Just two weeks ago, we launched a new Mobile Market in Vienna to share more food with neighbors in Maries County.

Thank you to our dedicated drivers and the incredible volunteers in the communities we serve who help make Mobile Markets possible!

The Russellville Mobile Market at Trinity Lutheran Church scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 8, is cancelled due to forecasted extreme heat. At The Food Bank, we never take cancelling a Mobile Market distribution lightly. But with temperatures forecast to exceed 95°F, our top priority is ensuring the safety of our volunteers, neighbors and staff. If you or someone you know is in need of food, visit https://buff.ly/WBN8x93 to find a partner agency sharing food at no cost near you.

Thank you to our friends for celebrating National Food Bank Day! We are grateful to work with so many amazing partners to share food, reduce stigma, raise awareness and build new charitable food champions in our communities. Sharing food to meet the immediate need and helping our neighbors reach long-term food security takes a team, and we're so appreciative of the many amazing folks that are helping our network - and our neighbors - thrive.
