REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN for the annual Cultural and Historic Preservation Conference and Awards Luncheon, which will be held April 20-21, in Columbia, SC!

Join us as we explore this year’s theme— “Historic Preservation: One Step Closer to Social Justice” — through a host of panel discussions with representatives from organizations including the Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Corridor Commission, Reconstruction Era National Historical Park, The Slave Dwelling Project, University of South Carolina Center for Civil Rights History & Research, Cecil Williams Civil Rights Museum, Union County Community Remembrance Project, Gullah Geechee Chamber of Commerce, and more!

Highlights include a welcoming reception at the African American Monument on the Grounds on Wednesday, and a special plenary address by Brent Leggs (pictured), Vice President and Executive Director of the African American Cultural Heritage Action Fund with the National Trust for Historic Preservation (), on Thursday.

The annual “Preserving Our Places in History” Awards luncheon will be also be held Thursday at 1 p.m. to recognize outstanding efforts in preserving African American history and heritage during 2021.
