Marilyn the Dinosaur and her friends want to remind everyone that The Dinosaur Experience will be at the Columbia Marion County Public Library this Thursday, May 28, 2026 at 2:00 p.m.

Don't forget to come by the Columbia Marion County Public Library before 5:00 p.m. today to grab reading materials or movies to watch for the long weekend. We will re-open Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at 9:00 a.m.

Yesterday all SMRL libraries were closed for staff training. We learned great things about PERS and Deferred Comp. We spent the afternoon sharing ideas and plans for improving library services. We, also, shared a refreshing lunch provided by K's Catering and Tenesha Ezell Martin! It was amazing!

I think our stuffed friends had a lot of fun. From watching traffic go by from the Genealogy Room to supervising the decorating, they were active throughout the library. They even had a party with Marilyn the dinosaur while I slept (NOT cool!)! 😉 These stuffed friends have been fun to have at the library. Thanks to everyone who participated!

Yesterday, our Storytime families enjoyed a Teddy Bear tea party. Then they left their stuffed animals with us for a sleepover! Lots of fun was had. Check out the next post to see what our stuffed friends did after their families left.

We have a new temporary employee at the Columbia Marion County Public Library! Marilyn is here to kick off "Unearth a Story" 2026. She will be available for pictures this summer. But, PLEASE no touching her. She is VERY OLD and her skin may fall off if you touch her. A very special thanks to Leslie Lawrence Fortenberry Chase Harrod and the Columbia High School Marching Wildcats for loaning her to us, delivering her and setting her up in her summer home.
