The FRI’s flagship event is its annual public utility symposium, which brings together regulators and commission staff, electric, gas and water executives, consumer advocates and academics. The symposium is targeted to state regulators, legislators, commission staff, utility managers, policy analys

ts, attorneys, consumer advocates and academics. The symposium features exciting speakers and a set of diverse panels that stimulate active discussion on current and forthcoming utility regulatory policy. The Hot Topic Hotline is a bi-monthly program to discuss relevant issues via a web/teleconference call. The Hot Topic Hotline provides an opportunity for regulators, industry and consumer advocates to discuss and debate issues on a variety of topics in a neutral environment. The FRI Advisory Board was established in 1988 as an essential component of the FRI. The advisory board includes regulators, industry executives, and consumer representatives, and operates under the leadership of Dr. Stephen Ferris. We are excited to announce that FRI has received a grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. Under the direction of Dr. Adrienne Ohler and Dr. Michael Sykuta, this grant will fund a new FRI Utility Policy Fellows program for the next three years to develop a network of early-career energy economics scholars with industry and regulatory connections to conduct policy-relevant research.

Recruitment for the first cohort of Fellows will begin in January. In the meantime, interested scholars can reach out to Dr. Sykuta for details and to be placed on our mailing list to ensure they receive the call for applications.
