This week’s Staff Pick comes from Claudia, our Children’s Librarian! 📚✨
Claudia has chosen The War That Saved My Life by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley and recommends it for readers looking for a powerful, heartfelt story. Here’s what she had to say about her pick:
"The War That Saved My Life is one of my favorite books of all time and a middle grade historical fiction novel I've loved recommending to both children and adults ever since I first read it about three years ago. Set during World War II, we embark on an emotional journey that follows Ada, a young girl born with a clubbed foot, as she learns to be brave, vulnerable, and resilient in the face of hardship.
No matter your age, this is one of those stories that stays with you long after you finish it. I love recommending this book not only for the story, but because of the way it makes you reflect on your own moments of courage and growth.
And if you end up loving Ada's story as much as I did, there's also a sequel, The War I Finally Won, which continues her journey through World War II."
Be sure to reserve it online and add it to your reading list! 📖
