This week, we're excited to shine the spotlight on a true Columbia favorite — ! 💙

Inner Banks Mercantile is one of those places where you can walk in looking for one thing and leave with five things you didn't know you needed! 😍

From specialty coffees and gourmet foods to unique gifts, home décor, apparel, toys, accessories, and North Carolina-made products, there's something for just about everyone. They even have special collections celebrating the people and products that make our state special.

Inner Banks Mercantile is also an important part of Columbia's downtown experience. Their shop gives both residents and visitors another reason to stop, shop, explore, and spend some time in our community.

We're proud to feature this wonderful local business and appreciate everything they bring to Columbia and Tyrrell County. ❤️

ARE YOU READY TO GROW, CONNECT & GET CREATIVE?

Are you a current business owner looking for fresh, creative ways to brand and market your business?

Are you thinking about starting a business but have no idea where to begin when it comes to getting your name out there?

Are you running a business right here in our region and facing challenges that other small business owners probably understand all too well?

Or maybe you’re just bored on a Thursday night and would rather hang out with some pretty cool business owners and community leaders, make connections, share ideas AND create your own branded piece of merchandise!

If you answered YES to any of those...THIS IS FOR YOU!

Join the Greater Tyrrell County Chamber of Commerce on:

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 17
6:00–7:30 PM
Pocosin Arts School of Fine Art
Main Street, Columbia

We’ll talk branding, marketing, what’s working, what’s challenging, and how businesses in our region can learn from and support one another.

And we’re not just going to TALK about branding — you’ll get hands-on and create a branded piece of merchandise to take home!

Finger foods, soft drinks and water will be provided.

AND DID WE MENTION...IT’S FREE?

This opportunity is open to:
Current business owners
Future business owners
Chamber members
Non-Chamber members
Locals
Visitors
Anyone interested in learning, connecting and getting involved!

Now, about that registration...

We get it. Sometimes we hesitate to commit.

“What if something else comes up?”
“What if my plans change?”
“I’ll decide later...”

BUTTTTT...what if nothing else comes up?

You don’t want to be sitting at home Thursday night thinking, “Well...I sure wish I had gone!”

We need a head count so we can have the food, materials and supplies ready for YOU.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE:
THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 10

That gives us one week to get everything ready to make this a fun, worthwhile evening!

The Greater Tyrrell County Chamber of Commerce is committed to helping strengthen our businesses, build connections and create opportunities right here in our region.

Small businesses don’t have to figure everything out alone.

We can learn from each other.
We can support each other.
We can promote each other.
And we can grow together.

Let’s build something great right here at home.

Hertford Supply is a unique destination where history, community, and creativity come together under one roof. Housed in a beautifully preserved historic feed and seed warehouse in Hertford, the business offers an ever-changing collection of antiques, vintage treasures, locally grown produce, handmade goods, home décor, plants, specialty foods, and artisan creations. Through monthly Hertford Trade Days, vintage flea markets, workshops, live music, and family-friendly events, Hertford Supply has become much more than a retail store—it is a gathering place that celebrates small businesses, local makers, and rural heritage.

Although Hertford Supply is located in neighboring Perquimans County, owner Theresa proudly chose to join the Greater Tyrrell County Chamber of Commerce after experiencing firsthand the genuine hospitality of our community. Following the Chamber's annual dinner and participation in Bike Night hosted by Stick Burnin BBQ, she was deeply touched by the warm welcome, kindness, and sense of community she found in Tyrrell County. She recognized that supporting local businesses doesn't stop at county lines and is excited to build relationships, collaborate with fellow Chamber members, and help strengthen the region as a whole.

This week, we’re shining the spotlight on Harbor Towns, Inc. and their efforts to bring greater attention to the communities along the Albemarle Sound, including our very own Columbia, NC!

Through regional tourism efforts, Harbor Towns is helping showcase Columbia’s waterfront and encourage visitors to experience our community from both land and water.

The Albemarle Queen has brought cruises and special events to Columbia, including a stop during the Scuppernong River Festival & a cruise during a Pocosin Arts fundraiser.

Harbor Towns has also been involved in plans for future improvements to Columbia’s waterfront, with the goal of creating an even more welcoming destination for residents, boaters and visitors.

We appreciate efforts that help showcase Columbia, celebrate our connection to the Albemarle Sound, and create new opportunities for our community.

RIVERTOWN CHRISTMAS 2026 — GET READY, COLUMBIA!

The FIRST WEEK OF DECEMBER is going to be filled with Christmas magic in Columbia!

This year, Rivertown Christmas isn’t just a day…it isn’t just a weekend…

IT’S A FULL RIVERTOWN CHRISTMAS WEEK!

From Wednesday through Sunday, our little river town will come alive with lights, traditions, music, fellowship, and the true meaning of Christmas. And we want our WHOLE COMMUNITY to be part of it!

CHRISTMAS DECORATING CONTEST

Start planning those lights NOW! This year we’re expanding the competition with 1st, 2nd AND 3rd place awarded in FOUR categories:

Town Businesses
County Businesses
Town Homes
County Homes

We want Tyrrell County GLOWING!

CRAB POT CHRISTMAS TREES

By Wednesday, our beloved crab pot Christmas trees will be decorated and shining on the courthouse lawn, officially setting the stage for Christmas week!

LA POSADA

Join Mary and Joseph as we walk Main Street searching for a place to stay and prepare our hearts to welcome the birth of Jesus.

The evening will continue with music, fellowship, festivities and tamales at Pocosin Arts Riverview!

FRIDAY NIGHT — SANTA IS COMING BY BOAT!

YES…BY BOAT!

Captain Frank has sent out the call, and now we need YOU!

We need LOTS of local boaters to decorate their boats, light them up and join the Christmas Flotilla.

Just imagine standing along the Scuppernong River as one glowing boat after another comes around the river bend with SANTA leading the way into Columbia!

MAGICAL.

And when Santa arrives, church bells throughout town will ring to officially welcome the Rivertown Christmas weekend!

Friday night will also include:

Christmas Tree Lighting
Luminaries Ceremony
Reading of “’Twas the Night Before Christmas”
The Christmas Story from the Bible
Santa’s arrival and photo opportunities at Bradley’s Corner Station
The beginning of our TWO-DAY CHRISTMAS BAZAAR!

And then…

SATURDAY IS PACKED FROM MORNING UNTIL NIGHT!

We’ll start bright and early with the RUN RUN RUDOLPH 5K!

The Christmas Bazaar continues throughout the day with vendors, shopping and plenty of Christmas spirit.

Then there is a BIG CHANGE coming to the Rivertown Christmas Parade this year…

THE PARADE WILL BEGIN AT 5:00 PM!

That means LIGHTS, LIGHTS AND MORE LIGHTS!

Start thinking now about how you can cover those floats, trucks, tractors, trailers, golf carts and parade entries in Christmas lights. Seeing Main Street glowing as the parade rolls through town is going to be absolutely MAGICAL!

And Santa isn’t finished with Columbia yet!

He’ll make his SECOND STOP of the weekend with additional photo opportunities at Bradley’s Corner Lot!

NOW IS THE TIME TO START PLANNING!

Mark the first week of December on your calendar.

Start designing your parade entry.

Start planning your home or business decorations.

Contact Captain Frank if you can put a boat in the Christmas Flotilla.

Be watching for Christmas Bazaar vendor registration.

Gather your family.

Invite your friends.

And get ready to experience Christmas in our little river town.

From the courthouse lawn to Main Street…

From the ringing of church bells to the glow of luminaries…

From decorated boats coming around the river bend to a lighted Christmas parade…

And most importantly, as we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ…

LET’S FILL COLUMBIA AND TYRRELL COUNTY WITH LIGHT.

This is RIVERTOWN CHRISTMAS 2026.

Let’s make it one we NEVER forget!

Sponsored by the Tyrrell County Chamber of Commerce.
