This week, we welcomed our 2026 Summer Interns to the City of Columbia for a special meet-and-greet with department managers, Mayor Barbara Buffaloe, and City Manager De'Carlon Seewood.

Representing colleges and universities from Missouri and beyond, these students are spending their summer learning about local government while bringing fresh ideas, enthusiasm, and talent to departments across the City.

Internships provide valuable hands-on experience, mentorship and professional growth, and we're excited to support the next generation of public service professionals while learning from them along the way.

For those who were unable to attend last night's Providence and Blue Ridge Road roundabout meeting, a preliminary concept drawing is now available on the project page. The drawing shows the general layout of the proposed single-lane roundabout, including the center island, vehicle entry and exit points, pedestrian crossings, sidewalks and nearby roadway connections.

We encourage residents to review the concept and share their feedback. Comments submitted through the BeHeard page will be provided to City Council for consideration prior to a future public hearing and vote on the project.

View the project and submit comments at https://BeHeard.CoMo.gov/Providence-Blue-Ridge-Roundabout.

🌽🥕 Supporting local farmers is at the top of Sustainability Specialist Tyler Gerstheimer’s summer sustainability goals.

This summer, Tyler plans to source as much of his food as possible from our amazing local farmers market. With a wide variety of fresh fruits, vegetables, and other products available from local vendors, shopping locally is a great way to support small farmers and strengthen our local economy.

Buying food closer to home also helps reduce environmental impacts associated with long-distance transportation. As an added bonus, locally grown produce is often harvested at peak ripeness, delivering exceptional flavor and freshness.

This summer, consider visiting your local farmers market and discovering the benefits of eating local. 🌱🍅

What local foods are you looking forward to enjoying this season?
