🚍 𝐆𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐑𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐞 𝐛𝐮𝐬 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐩 𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞

Effective today, Monday, Sept. 14, the bus stop and shelter in front of the Food Bank Market will be closed due to sidewalk construction.

A temporary bus stop has been established in front of Firestone at 703 Business Loop W., about 50 yards east of the Food Bank bus shelter. Please wait for the bus at the temporary stop.

Sidewalk construction is expected to last several days. A completion date has not yet been determined. Thank you for your patience while this work is underway.

🚧 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗮𝘁 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗠𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗼𝘄𝘀 𝗥𝗼𝗮𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗹 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘁.

The City of Columbia is developing preliminary plans to replace the existing four-way stop with a single-lane roundabout designed to improve safety and traffic flow.

The City recently shared the preliminary design with the community and accepted public feedback. While the initial comment period has now closed, the design process is continuing, and additional opportunities for public involvement are planned as the project moves forward, including a future public hearing before City Council.

Here’s a look at some of the key topics discussed during the Sept. 8 City Council meeting.

• Mike Parks was sworn in as the director of the City’s new Airport Department after 26 years with the City, including nine years as airport manager.
• Council held its second public hearing on the Fiscal Year 2027 budget. The final budget is scheduled for a vote Sept. 21.
• Council held a public hearing on proposed sewer utility rates, including a decrease in the residential monthly base charge and an increase in the volume charge.
• Council approved an update to the downtown taxi stand ordinance to better accommodate rideshare services and improve traffic flow and pedestrian safety.

Twenty-five years later, we remember.

Today, the City of Columbia and the University of Missouri gathered at Traditions Plaza to honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001.

Through a wreath laying, presentation of the colors, musical tributes and remarks from Columbia Mayor Barbara Buffaloe and University of Missouri Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor Matthew Martens, we came together to remember those we lost and honor those who answered the call to serve.

Twenty-five years later, we also reflect on the unity and compassion that brought our nation together in a time of unimaginable loss.

May we carry that spirit with us today and every day.

We will never forget.
