On Saturday, March 21st, members of Pine Burr Fire Department were honored to participate in the Firefighter Field Day hosted by Lamar County Fire Services. The event featured five stations: the Pittsburgh Drill, rope rappelling, search and rescue, extrication, and a live fire scenario. Participants also had the opportunity to explore some of the latest firefighting technologies at the vendor station and enjoyed a great lunch. A great time was had by all, and we look forward to attending again next year!

We were proud to have several members participate in today’s training hosted by Lamar County Fire Services. More photos and a follow-up post will be shared later.

The Lamar County Fire Service hosted a firefighter field day on March 21 for Pine Belt firefighters to improve skills needed for the job.

On Thursday, March 19th, members of Pine Burr Fire Department held our monthly training meeting. The training focused on engine and tanker operations. During engine operations, we reviewed the fundamentals of flowing water from crosslays and the deck gun. For tanker operations, we practiced supplying water from tanker discharges to the engine while maintaining an adequate and consistent flow to match the engine’s pumping capacity. Additionally, we practiced victim drag techniques using webbing and conducted two-minute dressing drills to improve speed and efficiency.

On Thursday, March 19th, Pine Burr Fd was dispatched to a grass/woods fire. Members of Pine Burr, Working in conjunction with the Mississippi Forestry Commission, were able to quickly contain the fire and secure all structures.

On Friday, March 13th, Pine Burr FD was dispatched on mutual aid to a tree on fire near a residence. Pine Burr Brush 1, Tanker 2, and additional personnel arrived on scene and assisted South Marion in extinguishing the fire and securing the residences.

On Thursday, February 26th, Members of Pine Burr FD, Tri-Community Fire Department, Columbia Fire Department, Southwest Marion Volunteer Fire Department, Foxworth Volunteer Fire Dept., and Morgantown VFD participated in a live fire county wide training. Firefighters worked on fire extinguishment and search and rescue. Training like this helps us to continually sharpen our skills and better serve the community. Thanks to all those that participated and a special thanks to Tri-Community for bringing their squad and refilling scba bottles!

On Thursday, February 5th, Pine Burr FD held our monthly business meeting. We elected officers, voted in new members, and discussed the training opportunities for the upcoming year. We look forward to providing another year of quality service and thank the community for your continued support!

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office has located Catherine Ann Martin. Tragically, she was found deceased in a wooded area.

We extend our deepest thoughts and prayers to the Martin family during this difficult time.

We would like to sincerely thank the many first responders who assisted in the search efforts at the local, state, and federal levels. We are also grateful to the businesses who donated food and water to support responders during the operation.

We appreciate the assistance of the K9 teams whose support was invaluable during this search.

On Saturday, December 6th, Pine Burr FD was privileged to participate in the annual Christmas Parade of Lights, sponsored by the Samantha Alberson State Farm Agency. A great time was had by all. We look forward to seeing everyone again next year! Until then, stay safe and have A Merry Christmas and happy holidays.

On Friday, December 5th, Pine Burr FD was dispatched to a mutual aid structure fire on HWY 43. South Marion FD requested mutual aid support. Pine Burr responded with several apparatus’s and additional manpower. Foxworth Volunteer Fire Dept. responded with tanker support. We arrived on scene to find a home almost fully involved with several structures in danger. Pine Burr units made entry and extinguished the fire, as well as protected exterior structures.
