Donald Trump’s energy level emerged as a flashpoint as the Republican nominee and Democrat Kamala Harris scrambled across battleground Michigan on Friday.

My deepest gratitude to those who supported my race. My best wishes to those that won! They are all exceptional individuals and more than capable to do the job. As for me, I'm going to rest for a while then be willing to help them any way I can so that Columbia, KY remains the special place we all love.

Policy Announcement: I will not vote for any attempt to reduce or eliminate school resource officers. As a counselor who has been with the Dept. of Juvenile Justice for 18 years it doesn't matter to me how many kids are in a building. It only takes one for us to have a horrific event. I've been asked so much about this I felt I had to respond. COVID-19 will not last forever and our classes will return to normal size. During my previous terms on the council I helped the Columbia City Police Department obtain radar detectors and other much needed equipment to do their job and keep our community safe. I have a strong record of supporting them for being the epitome of what a police force should be. I feel the same way about SROs and I'll never engage in any thoughtless behavior or votes to decrease the safety of your children. I ask for your vote tomorrow and also wish to thank ALL city employees for the valuable work that they do.

Since Jan. 2nd 2020, I was the first person in this race. At that time I had no idea there would be murder hornets, COVID-19, an economic crash, and everything else we've endured. Despite it all, I still believe I'm more than capable to be YOUR Councilman, but the decision is utimatly up to you who vote in the city. I have tried to make this a positive, policy, people driven campaign and I have poured my heart and soul into it. I also want to thank the MANY people who have stopped me to let me know they voted for me! So if you haven't voted yet, for one last time, I humbly ask for your vote. -Ben

POLICY ANNOUNCEMENT: I firmly believe COVID-19 is real, I also firmly believe citizens of Columbia have a fundamental right to "petition their government for a redress of grievances." There is a superb article in the Adair Community Voice today about how city council meetings aren't letting constituents in so their concerns can be heard. I believe we can stay within CDC and state guidelines AND have public input. I have several ideas on how to do so. I've been in this race longer than anyone and I'm not going to allow you not to have YOUR concerns brought up at meetings. I'll be easily accessible, approachable, and never forget that YOU put me there to work for YOU. I ask for your vote and support. Please share!

POLICY ANNOUNCEMENT: I'm just as excited as everyone else about having more dining options on Jamestown St. and I commend Mayor Hoots on landing them, but we have to acknowledge we already have one drive thru there that gets so backed up people are blocking the street to get in line for it. No one should be late for work or to pick their child up because of this. I'll propose a series of graduated sanctions to the business and the people who think a public road is just a place to get in line for a backed up drive thru. I'll also be closely monitoring the two new restaurants about to open and work with the Mayor, my colleagues on the council, and the state Transportation branch to make adjustments so the traffic flows freely and you have one less frustration in life. I humbly ask for your vote.
