Effective leadership is not about shouting from the sidelines. It is about bringing people together, navigating tough challenges, and delivering results.

Over the past four years in Anne Arundel County, I had the opportunity to work closely with Anne Arundel County Council Chair Julie Hummer, County Councilwoman District 4 and Allison Pickard for County Executive on some of the most complex issues facing local government. Together, we built consensus, advanced major policy initiatives, delivered for residents, and forged the type of friendship that comes from having tough conversations.

The challenges we tackled there are many of the same challenges Howard County faces today. That is why I am especially honored to have their endorsement and support.

As Early Voting begins this Thursday, I am ready to bring that same experience, collaboration, and results oriented leadership to the Howard County Council.

Weekend vibes. It was a great weekend connecting with neighbors across District 4 and Howard County.

We started by joining for Wear Orange gun violence awareness events on Friday evening at the Lakefront and, then again, Saturday morning at the Homewood Center, courtesy of . As a Gun Sense Candidate, I am committed to building safer communities and preventing gun violence while respecting responsible gun ownership.

We also supported at the OEC Pride Festival and purchased up some incredible art from .

On Sunday, I attended a grounding service on grace at St. John's United Church at the Wilde Lake Interfaith Center, where I connected with so many District 4 residents. After four hours of door knocking, I also had the opportunity to hear from students and parents in the Chinese Language School Youth Ambassador Program about their hopes and concerns for our community.

And Team Evelyn showed up, as always. The sun wasn't the only thing bringing the heat this weekend. We knocked over 900 doors Friday - Sunday! ☀️🔥💪🏾

I am incredibly proud and honored to announce that Governor Wes Moore has endorsed our campaign for Howard County Council District 4.

Governor Moore has challenged Maryland to lead with purpose, expand opportunity, and deliver results for working families. I am deeply grateful for the trust he has placed in me, our campaign, and our vision for District 4.

This election is about leadership. It is about who is prepared to serve on day one and who has the experience to navigate the challenges and opportunities ahead. Throughout my career in public service, I have worked to solve complex problems, build consensus, and deliver results for our communities. I am ready to bring that experience to the County Council.

Today is National Gun Violence Awareness Day. A day we remember the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the communities still carrying grief that never fully heals.

Gun violence is not a distant issue. It shows up in our schools, our neighborhoods, and our emergency rooms. It leaves behind grief that communities carry for generations. And it demands leadership that treats it with the seriousness it deserves.

Not just today, but every day.

That's why I'm honored to be recognized by Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America as a Gun Sense Candidate in this race. Because I believe prevention starts long before a crisis occurs- with mental health resources, behavioral health crisis response, and youth mentorship that offers young people connection and opportunity.

I am deeply honored to receive the endorsement of Vanessa Atterbeary, Candidate for Howard County Executive and former State Delegate.

District 4 deserves a representative on the County Council who is ready to lead on day one. Throughout my career in public service, I have focused on the issues that define our community: housing, land use, economic development, civil rights, and structural advocacy. Pride Month is a celebration of courage, visibility, and the enduring fight for dignity. It is also a reminder that progress doesn’t come on its own, we have to work together to make it a reality.

Here in Howard County, we have worked to build a community where everyone, no matter how they identify, can live openly, safely, and freely. But right now LGBTQ+ rights are under attack and too many of our neighbors are being told they don't belong.

I will never accept that. Howard County must remain a place where every person is seen, supported, and celebrated.

Six years ago, a conversation with Willie about Barbados' Crop Over harvest festival sparked an idea.

Crop Over celebrates the harvest and the people whose labor brings it to life. In 2020, that spirit inspired us to create something rooted right here in Howard County: a gathering centered on food, fellowship, and community.

Last Friday, we celebrated the 6th Annual Salad & Sangria Social at the Harriet Tubman Cultural Center.

What started as a simple idea has become a tradition that carries us joyfully into summer. Neighbors come together to share fresh food, build relationships, and celebrate the community we've cultivated together.

I've always believed strong communities are built village by village, neighbor by neighbor, and relationship by relationship. Events like this remind us that community is not something we inherit. It is something we create together.

Thank you to everyone who has helped grow this tradition over the years .

Here's to another summer of community, fellowship, and growing together. 🥗🍅🌱🫜✊🏾
