Columbia Township Fire Department Columbia Township Fire Department, Columbia Station, Lorain County, Ohio 44028 The station is manned 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by two firefighters.

Columbia Township Fire Department is a volunteer/part-time department in Lorain County, Ohio. The department is comprised of 1 station and 33 total members, with each member being a trained firefighter & EMT. There is one (1) member trained to Firefighter Level I and thirty-two (32) members trained to Firefighter Level II. There are twelve (12) members trained to the EMT-Basic level, one (1) membe

r trained to the EMT-Advanced level, and twenty (20) members trained to the Paramedic level. Various members have specialty education/training(s) such as: Rescue Diver, Ice Rescue Technician, Hazardous Materials Technician, Bomb Squad, Fire Investigator, Fire Inspector, Fire Instructor, EMS Instructor, Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Instructor, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Instructor, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Instructor, etc...

All firefighters have pagers provided to them by the department where they receive all fire, EMS, and miscellaneous calls that are toned out through the Lorain County 911 dispatch center. Additionally, firefighters are divided into three shifts (A shift, B shift, & C shift) that are a part of an "on call" rotation. The rotation calls for two firefighters to work "on call" each night (7 days a week) from 6pm to 6am, to support the station duty personnel. On Saturday and Sunday from the hours of 6am to 6pm, one firefighter works "on call day coverage" to support the station duty personnel. The Columbia Fire Department is proud to announce the addition of six new full-time members to our department. They were sworn in Monday night amongst family, friends, fellow firefighters, and the Township Trustees.

These individuals were selected through a competitive interview and hiring process that included many qualified applicants. They bring with them a wide range of experience and skills, with three already serving as valued members of Columbia Fire.
With these appointments, the department now consists of 7 full-time and 28 part-time personnel.

We extend a warm welcome to Joseph DiVencenzo, Brandon Hayner, and Garrett Overy, and congratulations to Ariel Haun, Carson Hengst, and newly promoted Captain Gerald Peters on this achievement.

Today, we remember all those service members who have given the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms and liberty we have each and every day. To the familes, friends, and fellow soldiers…..our hearts are with you. While we appreciate the extraordinary individuals that stand on the front lines in defense of our great nation, we also know that nothing can ever replace those lives lost and the void left in the hearts and lives of their loved ones.
