Columbia Heights Criminal Complaints – September 10, 2026

For the sake of public transparency, the Columbia Heights Police Department is sharing the criminal complaints from the September 10, 2026, arrests that occurred in Columbia Heights. The arrests at 4442 Tyler St NE and 909 Gould Avenue NE Apt 557 were conducted in partnership with the Columbia Heights Police Department, Anoka/Hennepin Drug Task Force, and Homeland Security Investigations.

According to the criminal complaints, “Parcel 1Z R59 88A 03 4719 6934 contained approximately 11.745 pounds of suspected co***ne, while parcel 1Z R59 88A 03 4719 6014 contained approximately 11.385 pounds of suspected co***ne, for a combined weight of approximately 23.13 pounds.”

In addition to approximately 23.13 pounds of co***ne, law enforcement recovered a loaded AK-47, a G***k 17, and a G***k 19. Both G***k handguns were equipped with machine gun conversion devices, commonly referred to as switches.

The Columbia Heights community is encouraged to review the criminal complaints and learn more background information regarding the arrests.

The Columbia Heights Police Department has not, and will not, be asking for the immigration status of those we come into contact with. As a police agency, it is essential that we have the trust of all of our residents and that we do not have or create barriers to residents wanting to work with us or report crimes.

Columbia Heights Shooting Investigation - September 14, 2026

On September 14, 2026, at about 6:00 a.m., the Columbia Heights Police Department responded to a report of possible gunshots in the 4100 block of Madison Street NE.

Upon arrival, officers found no victims at the scene. While processing the scene, CHPD received a report that two individuals who may have been involved in the incident had self-transported to a local hospital.

Anyone with information, video, or photos related to this incident is asked to contact Anoka County Emergency Communications - 911 or 763-427-1212.

This case is being investigated by the Columbia Heights Police Department and the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office.

On Thu, Sep 17, the New Brighton Area League of Women Voters is hosting a Columbia Heights Mayor and City Council Candidate Forum at City Hall (3989 Central Ave NE).

Please note that the times for the Columbia Heights Mayor and City Council Candidate Forums were changed after the newsletter went to print. The League of Women Voters will host the candidate forums at the following updated times:

Mayor Candidate Forum: 6 pm
City Council Candidate Forum: 7:15 pm

The event is open to the public and will be broadcasted live.

The Columbia Heights Fire Department Open House is a month away!

Columbia Heights Parks and Recreation is collecting new and gently used Halloween costumes.

Take part in the City’s inaugural Halloween Costume Swap! Save money and reduce waste by donating your gently used costumes and picking out a new costume at the swap! There is no cost to participate.

Costume Drop-Off
Bring your gently used Halloween costumes to the Parks & Recreation office at Murzyn Hall (530 Mill St NE) through Fri, Oct 2.

‘Shop’ the Swap
Pick out a new-to-you Halloween costume at the Fire Department Open House (825 41st Ave NE) on Sat, Oct 10, between 11 am and 2 pm.

To promote fire safety, the Columbia Heights Fire Department invites you to the Public Safety Building's Fire Station on Sat, Oct 10, from 11 am to 2 pm for the Fire Department Open House. Kids, young and old, can spray a real fire hose, meet dalmatians, watch a fire demonstration, meet local firefighters, and more!
