Meet Jane Dews of Glacier Gateway Elementary School, who has won a $700 Back to School Grant from National Life Group!

Jane teaches fourth grade, a pivotal year when students are becoming more independent and forming lasting friendships. She focuses on nurturing self-esteem and meaningful connections by creating a classroom where every child feels seen, valued, and empowered.

Jane guides her students through long-term projects, teaching them how to break big tasks into manageable steps. One highlight is a personal narrative writing project that culminates in a professionally published class book and a celebratory publishing party.

Jane is planning to use the grant towards technology that will help her honor student choice and voice - from a set of headphones for listening to audiobooks, to a throwable microphone for students with quieter voices. She's also planning to purchase classroom incentives to encourage students to complete their responsibilities.
