Recently we updated to new equipment and technology in our SCBA packs for our own volunteers. We are pleased to be able to donate the prior SCBA packs to go along with the donated air fill system a few years back. The Columbia City High School Fire & Rescue students are the future firefighters and we are fortunate to be able to help with there learning and commitment to our communities.

A huge THANK YOU to the Thorncreek Township Fire Department for their incredible donation to the Columbia City High School Fire & Rescue program! 🚒👏

Today, Fire 1 and Fire 2 students received SCBA air packs, bottles, and masks for student training use. This generous donation follows a previous donation of a cascade system from Thorncreek Township, helping provide students with real-world equipment and hands-on experiences that prepare them for careers in fire and emergency services.

“I am glad we were able to do this to support the program,” shared Bill Brice of Thorncreek Township.

Fire & Rescue Instructor Zach Rumsyre added, “This is huge! This donation along with the cascade system from Thorncreek Township will set us up for quite a while.”

Partnerships like this make a tremendous impact on student learning opportunities and career readiness. Thank you to Thorncreek Township Fire Department for investing in our students and the future of the fire service profession! 🔥🧯

Congratulations to the 200 house on a sharp looking truck. We are looking forward to helping you get it all muddy someday..!!!

Exciting news!

Yesterday afternoon Churubusco/Smith Township Firefighters took possession of a new 2026 F350 grass rig that was purchased from the Smith Township Fire Cumulative Fund. The due diligence of our Township Trustee and Township Advisory Board members made this possible by budgeting and saving funds that will not affect tax rates.

The new grass rig features a new 250 gallon poly tank skid unit with a new pump, fire hoses along with new fire nozzles, LED warning lights and wild-land firefighting hand tools. The new grass rig is replacing a (31) thirty-one year old F350 that will be converted into a utility truck.
