♻️ A Quick Reminder from Your Environmental Team!

Here are a few simple steps to help keep our collection crews safe and our community clean:

Getting your trash picked up?

✅ Have your can at the curb by 5:00 a.m. on collection day
✅ Lid must close completely — overfilled cans may result in extra fees
✅ Place it in an accessible spot where our crew can easily reach it
✅ Keep trash contained and away from storm drains and ditches
✅ Make sure your can is facing the street correctly (see photo!). If it's facing the wrong way, it could be damaged during pickup.

🚫 PLEASE — no appliances in your trash can or dumpster.

Appliances need special handling. They're heavy, contain electrical components, and can create serious safety hazards for our employees and equipment. Our trucks aren't made to handle these items.

Need an appliance picked up? Contact City Hall to schedule a pickup. Fees apply.

🚛 NOW HIRING: CDL Truck Driver / Heavy Equipment Operator

The City of Colquitt is seeking a dependable CDL Truck Driver / Heavy Equipment Operator to join our Environmental Division.

This is a vital role in keeping Colquitt clean and serving our residents through solid waste collection and operation of roll-off trucks, garbage trucks, knuckle boom trucks, and other heavy equipment.

🚨Position Details:
Pay: Commensurate with experience and qualifications
Department: Environmental Division

🚨Key Responsibilities:
- Operate roll-off, garbage, and knuckle boom trucks
- Perform residential and commercial waste collection
- Complete daily vehicle inspections, cleaning and routine maintenance
- Follow all traffic laws, safety procedures, and department policies
- Perform manual labor related to solid waste collection and disposal

🚨Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid Georgia CDL required
- 1 year of related experience preferred
- Safe driving record & strong work ethic
- Ability to safely operate heavy trucks and equipment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to meet physical requirements of the position (lifting, climbing, bending, etc.)
