Impaired driving is a leading cause of fatalities on roadways, according to MADD: Mothers Against Drunk Driving. I would like to stress that the Colquitt Police Department does not issue warnings for impaired driving.

It is crucial to acknowledge that buzzed driving is equivalent to drunk driving, and there is zero tolerance for such behavior.

As a family member affected by a drunk driver, I am committed to strictly enforcing DUI laws for the safety of our community and state. Please continue to prioritize safety. Sincerely, The Chief

Message from the Chief:

Driving under the influence of alcohol, cannabis, prescription medications, or illicit substances is a serious offense, posing significant risks to public safety. It impairs judgment, slows reaction times, and compromises safety, transforming vehicles into potentially lethal instruments.

The City of Colquitt Police Department maintains a zero-tolerance policy regarding driving under the influence.

Fatalities: Alcohol or drug-impaired crashes result in loss of life at an alarming rate, occurring every 42–52 minutes.

We urge you to plan ahead and make responsible decisions, as driving while impaired is a serious crime that will result in arrest and prosecution.
